About The Position

The Sr. Executive Team Leader (Assistant Store Manager) works alongside the Store Director to manage a profitable business focused on helping families discover the joy of everyday life. This role leads a team of experts passionate about guest satisfaction and develops leaders who care for their teams and guests. Target offers meaningful experiences for leaders to build and develop skills for a career. The Sr. ETL role provides skills in guest service fundamentals, retail business management, strategic planning, competitor analysis, team leadership, and talent management.

Requirements

4-year degree or equivalent experience
Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Relate well with and interact with all levels of the organization
Strong cognitive skills, including problem analysis, decision making, financial and quantitative analysis
Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes
Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners, and other technology equipment as directed
Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently
Access all areas of the building to respond to guest or team member issues
Interpret instructions, reports and information
Scan, handle and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting or moving merchandise up to 44 pounds
Accurately handle cash register operations as needed
Climb up and down ladders
Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift (shift length may vary)
Capable of working in and exposure to varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements while performing certain job duties including but not limited to Drive-Up, carryout, etc.

Assist the Store Director in planning, strategizing and building the business.
Drive total omnichannel store sales, demonstrate how you, your team and your departments contribute to and impact total store profitability.
Anticipate and identify changes in store-specific trends and drive sales growth in your departments by leaning into key seasons, events and weekends.
Leverage your reports (financial, operational, team and guest) to understand the business; Share key insights and themes with the Store Director in support of total store strategy and growth.
Lead and create a culture of executing all best practices by understanding where operational shortage can occur throughout the building, build routines and action plans to resolve opportunities, and establish clear goals and expectations to hold team accountable.
Know and assess the competition and leverage guest insights and feedback to drive the business and be the destination of choice for our guests.
Manage a confident and knowledgeable sales force that delivers a differentiated experience for our guests and prioritizes the guest over task.
Manage an efficient operation to fund future growth.
Anticipate staffing needs, talent plan, recruit, hire and retain a passionate team for area specific knowledge and expertise.

Always demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety and compliance; lead and hold the ETLs accountable to work in the same way.
Develop and lead the safety culture and performance of the department through modeling and recognizing safe behaviors, identifying and correcting hazards, holding team accountable to following safety expectations, assisting with incident response, and reporting/investigating injuries timely and accurately.
Lead an instore security culture by focusing on deterrence, response and resolution in order to improve physical security processes.
Lead merchandise protection strategies across the total store; including ordering, storage and application as directed by best practices.
As a key carrier, implement all safe and secure training and processes.
Address all store emergency and compliance needs.
Regularly assume store-level leadership on duty (LOD) responsibilities to enable the guest experience for the store during assigned shifts.
All other duties based on business needs.
