About The Position

Northern Nevada Medical Center is a 124-bed acute care hospital located in Sparks, Nevada, known for providing quality healthcare in a comfortable, accessible environment. This full-time SR ER Tech position, at 36 hours per week with a night shift schedule, offers full benefits. The role involves providing indirect patient care in the Emergency Department, monitoring cardiac rhythms on a telemetry monitor, meeting communication needs of patients/families, departmental staff, and medical staff, and implementing directions from physicians and nursing staff. Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • One (1) year experience in an acute care hospital
  • Current AEMT Certification
  • Proof of medical terminology class upon hire or within 6 months of hire
  • Proof of Basic 16hr EKG class (within three months of hire)
  • Completes annual EKG competency
  • BLS Certification (within 6 months of hire)

Nice To Haves

  • NV Phlebotomy Certificaiton preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide indirect patient care in the Emergency Department
  • Monitor cardiac rhythms on telemetry monitor
  • Meet the communication needs of the patient/family, departmental staff and medical staff
  • Implement directions from physicians and nursing staff
  • Communicate appropriately and clearly to charge nurse, coworkers, physicians and nursing director
  • Communicate information about dysrhythmias to the charge nurse and primary care nurse
  • Demonstrate competency in interpreting dysrhythmias
  • Consult other departments, as appropriate, to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient’s needs
  • Demonstrate an ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations
