About The Position

We are seeking an organized, detail-oriented, and highly motivated Sr. Entry Writer to support our import operations in the Dallas–Fort Worth area. In this role, you will manage daily import activity for assigned accounts, prepare customs entry documentation, coordinate shipment status updates, assist with entry audits, and provide timely, professional communication to internal teams, vendors, brokers, and customers. This position reports to the Global Trade Compliance Officer. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, enjoys problem solving, and takes pride in accuracy, follow-through, and excellent customer service.

Requirements

  • Strong time management and organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Intermediate Excel skills required.
  • Experience using internet-based systems, inventory software, import databases, spreadsheet software, and word processing software.
  • Strong mathematical skills, including the ability to calculate discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, and perform basic arithmetic accurately.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Professional and confident phone communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • SAP knowledge is a plus.
  • Knowledge of the building materials industry is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Processing high profile customers and maintaining good customer relations
  • Processing of Southern Border entries inbound from Mexico
  • Review vendor documentation and create complete customs entry packets.
  • Prepare files for customs entry and submit required information for clearance.
  • Track and trace containers, monitor shipment status, and verify U.S. Customs clearance.
  • Follow freight release at the port, monitor last free day, and help prevent avoidable delays or charges.
  • Coordinate with drayage teams, truckers, exam sites, piers, brokers, and internal stakeholders to resolve shipment issues.
  • Enter, process, and maintain U.S. Customs entry information and shipment status updates in SAP and related systems.
  • Assist with audits of customs entries for accuracy
  • Manage daily emails and phone calls with professionalism, urgency, and strong follow-through.
  • Create daily reports, bi-weekly reports and Monthly reports required by the customer
  • Monitoring Customer ACE accounts for accuracy
  • Meet established company/customer deadlines, procedures, and service expectations.
  • Ensure imported shipments have the proper documentation before clearance.
  • Collaborate with and audit outside customs brokers to support compliant import activity.
  • Assist management is preparing and submitting required document request from CBP
  • Work with supply chain planning teams on customs compliance matters.
  • Research foreign import/export regulations as needed to support company import and export activities.
  • Analyze shipment, facility, broker, vendor, and compliance data to support reporting and process improvements.
  • Identify recurring issues, determine root causes, and help drive practical solutions.
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy in data processing and documentation.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with supervisors, colleagues, customers, and third-party partners.
  • Contribute to a positive team environment with a willingness to learn, adapt, and problem solve.
  • Follow company policies, procedures, and compliance expectations.
