About The Position

The Senior Enterprise Business Architect serves as the strategic cornerstone of the Enterprise Business Architecture practice, translating executive vision into actionable capability roadmaps that drive enterprise-wide transformation. This role operates at the intersection of corporate strategy, business operations, and technology investment, serving as a trusted advisor to senior-level business leaders and the primary champion of architecture governance across the organization. The Senior Enterprise Business Architect leads the development and stewardship of the enterprise capability model, value stream maps, and architecture standards, ensuring all major initiatives are aligned to business outcomes and regulatory requirements. In a complex health insurance environment spanning clinical, financial, and administrative domains, this role provides the systems-level thinking and leadership presence needed to navigate ambiguity, influence without authority, and deliver lasting organizational change.

Requirements

  • 10+ years related work experience in business or enterprise architecture
  • 5+ years in a senior or principal architect role
  • Functional expertise in multiple major business areas
  • Experience in health insurance or regulated industry required
  • Related Bachelor’s degree or additional related equivalent work experience
  • Thorough industry knowledge in related business area and understanding of impact on the organization
  • Demonstrated experience in business architecture
  • Strong concept visualization, presentation communication skills while interacting with a broad spectrum of internal and external individuals and departments
  • Ability to challenge status quo and engage in conversations leading to innovation
  • High critical thinking skills to evaluate alternatives and present solutions that are consistent with business objectives and strategy
  • Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work well with business area and IT partners
  • Experience in applying research methodology to business solutions
  • Experience with business requirements and business process analysis to ensure IT solutions meet the business needs
  • Exceptional leadership skills demonstrated through project or technical leadership experience including effective knowledge sharing, conflict resolution, facilitation of open discussions and displaying appropriate levels of assertiveness
  • Ability to clearly communicate to all levels and audiences
  • Expertise in consulting, negotiating, communicating, consensus building, presentation and facilitation skills
  • Ability to communicate highly complex technical functional-level information into a simple presentment that is conveyed clearly and articulately for all levels and audiences

Responsibilities

  • Develops and communicates an enterprise-wide business architecture vision and strategy, aligning with the organization's overall business strategy, defining the future-state architecture, and ensuring all stakeholders understand architecture's role in driving business outcomes.
  • Owns the business relationships across multiple, integrated business capability areas, serving as a trusted advisor to executive sponsors and senior business leaders, and ensuring architecture plans and decisions are aligned with organizational strategy and goals.
  • Translates executive strategy into actionable capability roadmaps, providing a clear and executable plan for achieving strategic objectives and ensuring business capabilities are developed and deployed to support intended business outcomes.
  • Owns and maintains the enterprise capability model and value stream maps, ensuring these critical assets are accurate, current, and accessible, and that they inform decision-making and guide enterprise investment.
  • Drives strategic alignment across all business units, ensuring business capabilities and architecture plans reflect a common organizational direction and that all stakeholders are working toward shared objectives.
  • Influences enterprise investment decisions and prioritization, providing critical input on the capability impact of proposed investments and ensuring resources are allocated effectively to drive business outcomes.
  • Leads architecture governance and review boards, ensuring architecture plans and decisions align with enterprise strategy, and that stakeholders are held accountable for delivering on architecture commitments.
  • Leads architecture input to large-scale transformation programs, ensuring architecture plans are integrated into critical initiatives and that capability development is sequenced to support program outcomes. (10%)
  • Assesses the impact of regulatory and strategic changes on enterprise architecture, identifying risks and opportunities, and developing strategies to mitigate or capitalize on them.
  • Leads cross-functional architecture reviews and cross-business capability modeling, bringing together stakeholders to review architecture decisions, develop shared capability understanding, and identify opportunities for improvement and investment.
  • Develops and delivers executive-level architecture presentations, communicating complex architecture concepts and plans clearly and compellingly to ensure senior leaders are informed and engaged.
  • Leads the architecture community of practice, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation among architecture professionals and ensuring best practices and lessons learned are shared across the organization.
