About The Position

Join Verizon as we continue to expand our industry-leading network to improve the ways people, businesses, and things connect. As a Senior Engineer, you will provide technical expertise on a critical role involving network transformation, network outages, service issues, network optimization, and maintenance. You will be responsible for providing support to keep things running smoothly and change the way that our customers live, work, and play. We are a 24x7 highly visible Operations environment that performs troubleshooting, configuration changes, drive issues to resolution, and related functions. Monitoring the network systems and applications to ensure overall system availability and performance. Complying with company- and industry-wide standard directives to maintain network performance and enhance efficiency. Providing expert-level optimization, troubleshooting, and maintenance support of network equipment, finding ways to make it even better. Partnering with all key stakeholders to ensure new features and/or fixes are swiftly rolled out with no negative impact to customers or system performance. Leveraging automation to eliminate manual processes and providing near real-time visibility into system health and performance.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or two or more years of work experience.
  • Three or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through work experience and/or military experience.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts including weekends and holidays.
  • Willingness to travel up to approximately 75% of the time.
  • Valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • A technical degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, Computer Science, Engineering, Business or a related discipline.
  • Five or more years or more of experience in telecommunications.
  • Experience with automation tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve IP network troubles in the physical, data link, and network layers.
  • Ability to maintain configuration of devices in a network management monitoring system.
  • Expert-level knowledge of services, network devices, knowledge base solutions, and system monitoring tools.
