About The Position

The Sr. Engineering Project Manager, Sustainability (SiG) Focus Pet NA role is part of the Sustainable in a Generation (SiG) for Operations Program across Mars Petcare North America. This position will support SiG projects and may also support non-SiG capital projects depending on workload. The global sustainability engineering team is responsible for strategy development, roadmap creation, and execution of critical SiG engineering projects. This role collaborates with global and regional engineering, sites, and other technical teams to drive innovation, develop standards, oversee SiG programs, and ensure Pet NA achieves its sustainability goals. The position can be based in Franklin, TN, or other major Petcare sites. The Sr. Engineering Project Manager will champion Site SIG engagement, SiG by Design, the SiG Playbook, and SiG Road Mapping, acting as a sustainability leader for the engineering community and site sustainability teams. Responsibilities include the design and installation of key sustainability projects, such as refrigeration modernization. This role is an active member of the Engineering community, sustainability engineering team, local engineering team, and assigned project team(s), applying engineering expertise, business knowledge, and creativity to deliver projects that provide a competitive advantage.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required
5+ years of experience in a comparable technical position - food, beverage, pharmaceutical or related industry preferable
Demonstrated knowledge in food safety, associate safety, and construction safety
Understanding of engineering principles – Process, Utilities, Sustainability. Knowledge of multiple disciplines is preferred
Experience and a strong interest in sustainability initiatives
Proven track record in successfully executing capital projects of greater than $1M in value
Demonstrated ability to safely manage consultant engineering firms as well as mechanical and electrical installation contractors in a factory environment
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills
Ability to travel 20% to 50% as required by projects

Responsibilities

Timely collection and reporting of sites SIG metrics to global community
Lead in the development of Site SIG roadmaps and measurement of sites against roadmaps
Provide engineering solutions for sustainability and other factory projects that drive a competitive advantage.
Ensure delivery of scope, timeline, budget, and cash flow for all assigned engineering projects in accordance with the Engineering Work Process (EWP).
Accurately scope and estimate capital projects that are technically feasible and meet business and segment plans.
Communicate and collaborate with all Stakeholders and other functions (R&D, Quality, Commercial, Finance, Safety) to ensure capital project objectives are clearly defined and achieved.
Serve as a key member and contributor of the CVS (Commissioning, Validation, Start-up) Team.
Effectively monitor and ensure a safe work environment for all project activities.
Lead site utility assessments, multi-year roadmap development, deployment, execution, and continuous improvement.
Engage associates at all levels of the business on the SiG Program through education and collaboration.
Support strategic discussions with internal, cross-segment, regional, and global teams on SiG program management.
Technically review regional and site engineering projects via the SiG by Design program, ensuring engineering designs align with sustainability standards and driving accountability.
Develop, implement, and improve SiG training programs including SiG by Design and utility systems knowledge.
Cultivate an innovation mindset, including investigating the latest technologies to drive the Mars SiG ambition of Zero Greenhouse Gas emissions and sustainable refrigerants.
Identify and understand relevant ESG government programs and incentives.
