Requirements

  • BS Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering required (Chemical Engineering preferred).
  • 15-20 years hands on experience with Capital Project Management at chemical manufacturing facilitates
  • Ability to multi-task effectively and execute multiple projects at various stages.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills required.
  • Strong technical and data analysis skills required.
  • A demonstrated ability to learn new chemistries and processes.
  • Describe in detail a capital project that you have executed from inception to completion.
  • How do you manage scope changes during a project?
  • How do you manage project budgets and cost control?
  • How familiar are you with the various disciplines involved in a major (Greenfield) construction project? How do you ensure cross-discipline coordination (civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, & automation)?
  • Describe in detail any experience in contractor management.
  • Detail the capital project that you feel was the most successful and why was it successful? What metrics do you use to measure project success?
  • Detail a capital project that did not go well and what you did to get the project back on track?
  • Describe in detail your current project workload including budget.
  • Detail experience that you have with chemical unit operations or equipment. Examples include: Unit operations examples include: Distillation, reaction chemistry, mixing? Equipment includes pumps, heat exchangers, vessels, meters, transmitters, etc.
  • Detail experience with OSHA Process Safety Management systems
  • Describe in detail how you have presented a project status to stakeholders as part of a Steering Committee or a Peer Review.

Responsibilities

  • Work as a leader of project teams to drive the delivery and implementation of major capital projects (>$30 MM USD) within the company's North America.
  • May be required to manage projects simultaneously at multiple sites.
  • Full project life cycle ownership of projects: successful project delivery will include full implementation from conceptual design (prepare estimates and detailed project plan for all phases of the project) through initiation and deployment for assigned projects.
  • Manage all aspects of projects to ensure the overall program is aligned to and directly supports the achievement of strategic objectives.
  • Includes: project scope and changes, day-to-day project activities and resources and chairs the project management team meetings, understand interdependencies between technology, operations, and business needs, participate and/or drive feasibility studies, vendor selections and proposals for evaluation by appropriate key stakeholders, define the Statement of Work and Specifications for the requested goods and services, and monitor, track, and control workstreams to resolve issues, conflicts, dependencies, and critical path deliverables.
  • Extensive understanding of project and program management principles, methods, and techniques.
  • Intimately familiar with requirements of Process Safety Management.
  • Should be capable of leading basic and detailed Risk Assessments, HAZOP’s, MOC’s, PSSR’s, LOPA, developing and implementing SIS.
  • Provide status reporting regarding project milestones, deliverable, dependencies, risks.
