About The Position

As a Senior Engineer on the INFOPS Application Development team, you will play a key role in designing, building, and operating the platforms that support WWT’s internal application development organization. This position blends hands-on technical execution with platform ownership, automation, and close collaboration with application and partner engineering teams. The INFOPS Application Development team operates within WWT’s Internal IT Platform Engineering organization and focuses on enabling developers. The team builds and evolves platforms, workflows, and automation that allow application teams to safely and efficiently self-service infrastructure, deployments, and integrations. Our work emphasizes Platform Engineering best practices, Infrastructure as Code, GitOps, and automation. As the organization continues to mature, the team is also evolving toward AI-native engineering, incorporating intelligent automation and AI-assisted workflows to reduce operational toil, improve reliability, and accelerate delivery across the software development lifecycle. This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy building leverage—creating systems and patterns that multiply the effectiveness of developers and other engineers—and who want to have a direct, visible impact on how modern engineering practices scale across WWT IT.

Requirements

  • Seven (7) or more years of experience in software engineering or platform engineering
  • Comfort working alongside AI-powered tools while maintaining strong engineering judgment, validation, and accountability for outcomes.
  • Contribute to the adoption and continuous improvement of AI-enabled workflows by providing feedback, identifying opportunities for automation, and safely incorporating AI assistance into repeatable operational patterns.
  • Leverage approved AI tools and agents to assist with platform operations, troubleshooting, automation, documentation, and workflow efficiency under established governance and best practices.
  • Actively use and support AI-assisted and agentic engineering workflows as part of their day-to-day work.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes, including deploying, operating, and troubleshooting production workloads.
  • Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, configuring, and maintaining Kubernetes-based platforms across development, test, and production environments.
  • Experience administering or enabling at least one enterprise platform or shared service such as: MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Redis, RabbitMQ, Apache Solr
  • Demonstrated experience with service mesh architectures, traffic management, or load balancing in Kubernetes environments.
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and automation workflows using tools such as GitHub, Jenkins, Codefresh, APIs, and GitOps-based approaches.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code, configuration-as-code, and automation practices (e.g., Helm, Ansible, Terraform, YAML-based pipelines).
  • Strong Linux skills with demonstrated knowledge of operating system concepts and administration.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability solutions.
  • Comfort scripting or coding in languages such as Shell, Python, or Node.js.
  • Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex distributed systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
  • A self-starter mindset with strong ownership, organization, and a passion for learning new technologies.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Permanent U.S. work authorization.
  • Candidates requiring current or future visa sponsorship, including those on F-1/OPT, CPT or H1B, are not eligible for this role.
  • This role is not open for staffing partners or corp-to-corp candidates.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Red Hat OpenShift is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Prometheus and Grafana is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

  • Help design, build, and maintain a hybrid platform environment, integrating on-premises infrastructure with cloud services.
  • Own and evolve the Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform, including configuration and lifecycle management across development, testing, and production environments.
  • Design, write, and maintain GitOps-driven CI/CD pipelines that automate application delivery to Kubernetes platforms.
  • Deploy and operate distributed applications using Helm charts, develop and maintain Kubernetes operators where appropriate, and continuously improve delivery workflows through automation and standardization.
  • Take ownership and operational responsibility for shared platforms that applications depend on, such as MongoDB, PostgreSQL, RabbitMQ, Apache Solr, and similar services.
  • Manage the lifecycle, monitor, troubleshoot, and ensure the reliability and availability of shared platforms.
  • Build and maintain automation, self-service workflows, and platform capabilities that reduce manual effort and remove common bottlenecks.
  • Collaborate with internal customers to understand requirements and engineer scalable, repeatable solutions aligned to business needs.
  • Collaborate with partner engineering teams across WWT to align standards and drive efficiencies.
  • Provide technical leadership through design collaboration, mentoring, and cross-training.
  • Monitor platform performance and availability, proactively identify and remediate issues, troubleshoot complex incidents, and participate in an on-call rotation and scheduled maintenance windows.
  • Actively participate in agile practices, including daily stand-ups, planning sessions, retrospectives, and ideation workshops, while contributing to continuous improvement across the team.
