Position Overview: We are seeking a proactive and passionate professional to join our high-performing team. This is facing off the Actuarial department within Nationwide Financial under Digital Back Office. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will focus primarily on providing high quality, efficient technology solutions to business partners by crafting new software applications or modifying and/or supporting existing packaged or custom-built applications. In this capacity, you’ll analyze, code, configure, test, debug, document and maintain applications.

Requirements

  • At minimum, one years of hands-on Windows Server experience , comfortable with Active Directory, PowerShell basics, and Windows service management
  • Proficiency in Operating Systems: Command Linux and Windows environments with ease.
  • Programming Expertise: Develop and maintain systems using Informatica, Talend, Perl, and harness SQL Server, Oracle, and Informatica or other ETL tools to manage and transform data effectively.
  • Database Management: Utilize your knowledge of Snowflake, Databricks, SQL Server ,Oracle to maintain robust database systems.
  • Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, or other related degree. Technology experience or non-traditional technology certificates can be substituted for an undergraduate degree.
  • Two or more years of analysis and technology experience.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming language such as Java, C++, Python, JavaScript.
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle.
  • Proven ability to tackle moderately sophisticated business and development problems.
  • Ability to thrive in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Build work
  • Incident Management -Run support/ETL and also third-party software management
  • Leverages AI-powered tools and capabilities in daily work (e.g., intelligent search, documentation assistants, decision support) and throughout the software development lifecycle (e.g., AI-assisted coding, test generation, code review, and defect analysis) to improve speed, quality, and developer experience.
  • Employ your problem-solving skills to navigate and resolve multifaceted technical issues.
  • Uses DevSecOps practices, tooling, and techniques (e.g., CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, observability) to improve speed, quality, and reliability.
  • Collaborates within and across teams (product, architecture, data, quality, infrastructure) to deliver integrated, end-to-end solutions.
  • Take full ownership of tasks, ensuring meticulous execution and delivery of high-quality work.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement, staying ahead of the curve in a rapidly evolving tech landscape including AI.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and operational excellence.
  • Faces off against the Actuarial Business within IDS at NF
  • Analyzes, solutions, develops, tests, debugs, documents and deploys software according to standards and best practices.
  • Applies secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Uses DevSecOps practices, tooling and techniques.
  • Drives continuous improvement and learning through ongoing training, practice and innovation.
  • Manages project priorities, deadlines and deliverables proactively.
  • May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
