About The Position

This Sr. Engineer position will sit on our Advisor Marketing Practice & Promotion product team (AMPP). We build, enhance and support many features and platforms that support our field advisors in their marketing to their book of business. The team and this team member has opportunities to work with Salesforce, marketing cloud, Java apps, and other enterprise apps that are widely used by thousands of our field advisors. For development skills, I am looking for highly experienced candidates with a toolkit including Salesforce development (apex, LWCs, REST APIs), marketing cloud development, Java-based development, and OpenShift knowledge. Advisor Marketing Value Statement: Purpose of Advisor Marketing Practice & Promotion is to empower advisors to promote their practice and grow their business in their unique markets. We do this by equipping advisors with tools, content templates, and marketing support to build their brand, reduce friction in campaign execution, tailor promotions to local audiences, and optimize growing their practice using insights and metrics as feedback loops. Advisor Marketing Product Outcomes: • Key Business Outcome: Drive Advisor success with client consideration and conversion outcomes that grow their business • Reduced level of effort for advisors to find, create, and personalize content to market their practice • Measurable content & template effectiveness (optimized based on metrics and campaign goals) • Enhance the advisor experience (satisfaction) w/ their ability to grow their business Description: As a Sr. Engineer you will be considered a technical expert in one or more phases of application and/or systems engineering (Salesforce). This includes providing design recommendations based on long-term IT organization strategy and expertise regarding the integration of applications across the business. You will determine specifications, plan, design, and develop business critical software solutions, utilizing appropriate software engineering processes - either individually or in concert with product team.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of salesforce development apex experience, lightning web components (LWCs), apex triggers, apex frameworks, REST APIs, third-party integrations with Salesforce, flows, SOQL, SOSL
  • Sound knowledge of industry standard Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) practices
  • Proficiency in managing large-scale Salesforce projects
  • Ability to articulate and communicate complex Salesforce concepts to a wide audience (technical and non-technical)

  • Salesforce Certifications – Salesforce Certified Platform Developer I & II, Salesforce Certified Marketing Cloud Engagement Developer
  • Partnered with engineering teams to modernize application delivery through Java-based development, OpenShift containerization, and Terraform-driven cloud infrastructure automation, enabling faster and more reliable software releases
  • Experience with implementing Distributed Marketing product within Salesforce Core CRM

  • Apply deep Salesforce technical knowledge to drive outcomes for customers
  • Ability to work and problem solve independently on initiatives that align to the broader software engineering strategy
  • Member of team that can work independently, as well as collaboratively with team, in developing core software for the product that delivers outcomes.
  • Consistent and dependable in delivering core software that delivers outcomes and meets/exceeds the teams expectations for stability, scalability, resilience, etc.
  • Shares new Salesforce features, ideas and techniques with team; encourages junior engineers to invest in learning as a part of their job.
  • Participate in team’s collaboration sessions to provide technical expertise to solve a problem/remove technical roadblocks for the team
  • Participate in product planning and implementation. Helps team to understand and decompose work
  • Contribute to develop Salesforce engineering practices , templates and frameworks in collaboration with the team.
  • Continuously assessing technology to build more stable, scalable, and resilient software; Use data to measure progress
  • Promote and expand on the use of the CI/CD pipeline to improve the deployment and build process.
  • Participates in the team support rotation and provides expert knowledge on focus subsystems.
  • Knowledge of Github, Github actions, feature branching, branch merging
  • Sound knowledge of version and revision control practices and procedures
  • Contribute to define the selection criteria for selecting the right technology vendors
  • Participate in proof of concept / technology along with the vendor
  • Provide guidance to junior engineers to help them learn foundational software engineering skills
  • Provide technical expertise and help the team to solve technical/software issues
  • Provide trainings to the junior developers (trailhead modules, custom development plans, etc.)
  • Provide Salesforce domain expertise to junior engineers to help them learn/grow their skills and contribute as part of the team
  • Engage in the local Salesforce tech community to build the Thrivent technology brand and position as the employer of choice in the market
  • Participate in the interview process or be part of the panel to recruit the right talent to the team
  • Contribute to the recruitment to define the structure of the interview process to hire the right talent to the team.
