About The Position

The City of Redmond is seeking a Sr. Engineer - Plan Review to join the Planning and Community Development department. In this role, you will represent the city and its values, working on code compliance for the structural stability of complex and unique structures. This position is responsible for advanced-level plan reviews related to the enforcement of commercial building codes. You will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of development projects, including large commercial campuses, and contribute to Redmond's environmental stewardship and smart development. Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Seven (7) years engineering experience which includes three years of project administration and management responsibilities.
  • Any equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Engineer-Senior requires a Professional Engineer's License.
  • Valid Washington State Driver's License required.

Responsibilities

  • Review plans, calculations, specifications and other documents for completeness of information, accuracy and conformance with local, state and federal codes and regulations.
  • Communicate technical and code requirements to applicants and their consultants.
  • Prepare checklists and identify required corrections to meet codes and standards, and request additional information when needed, using both written and verbal communication.
  • Determine the need for review and coordination with other departments and divisions in the City.
  • Advise owners, engineers, architects, and contractors on the permit process and plan review procedures.
  • Attend meetings with owners engineers, architects and contractors to assist them in the process for review and approval of the submittals.
  • Provide interpretations of the adopted building codes and engineering standards.
  • Assist building inspectors with field questions.
