SR Engineer, Industrialization
About The Position
This role leads the manufacturing execution of New Product Introduction (NPI) and Continuation Engineering (CE) projects, focusing on Design for Assembly (DFA), time to market, total product cost, and seamless production system integration. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams, under general guidance, to oversee manufacturing readiness for NPI projects. Responsibilities include developing comprehensive manufacturing plans, encompassing final assembly layouts, specification, quotation, and procurement of assembly equipment (including automated systems). The role also covers facility preparation, EHS compliance, and final acceptance of equipment and processes. Direct onsite engagement is required to ensure successful pilot runs and product launches. The position reports to the Team Lead, Industrialization and operates on a hybrid schedule in Milwaukee, WI.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Relevant Field.

- Ability to travel up to 15% of the time.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or equivalent degree or education.
- 5 years experience in engineering.
- Knowledge of the more complex Engineered to Order (ETO) businesses for Intelligent Devices within Low and Medium Voltage products.
- Demonstrated understanding of New Product Introduction (NPI) process.
- Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system SAP.
- Experience in a role as part of a project teams to ensure manufacturing validation strategies are efficient and stream-lined with an end-to-end perspective.
- Experience with Project Management, Design for Excellence (DFX), Lean Six Sigma tools and methodologies, and Agile product development methodologies such as SAFe.
- 5+ years experience with discrete assembly processes.
- Experienced in Industrialization & Design for Assembly practices.
- Experience with assembly automation (spec, procurement, validation, support, etc.).
Responsibilities
- Work with design team and manufacturing operations to ensure optimum product and process design for manufacturability and assembly of new products, in compliance with manufacturing standards.
- Coordination of all proto and pilot builds occurs through final execution of Common Product Development (CPD) Stage-gate Deliverables. These deliverables include PFMEA, Global Product Marking (GPM), and SAP. They also include Factory Talk Production Center (FTPC) validation, Work instruction (Digital and Print), Warehouse Management, and Operator & Maintenance training.
- Lead engagements with machine and equipment vendors, to procure assembly equipment for discrete product assembly, ranging from manual workstations to automated solutions.
- Investigate and resolve complex issues by performing data-driven analysis of situations involving multiple, interdependent variables.
- Exercise judgment in supporting the selection of methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
- Coach others on core job responsibilities, business processes, and the use of required tools and systems.
- Use SAFe/Agile project planning methodologies
- Lead efforts to reduce labor time, improve ease of assembly, and meet product cost targets.
- Support research and implementation of cost reduction and process improvement projects.
