About The Position

The Sr. Engineer – HCM Integrations will partner closely with the HCM Integration Manager as a key technical leader for the team. This role will serve as the manager’s primary technical counterpart, providing technical continuity, architectural oversight, and day-to-day technical leadership across the HCM integration landscape.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in enterprise application engineering, HCM technology, integrations, or a closely related technical discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience serving as a Lead Engineer, Principal Engineer, or Staff Engineer with responsibility for leading complex technical architecture and guiding engineering best practices.
  • Significant hands-on experience with enterprise HCM platforms and HCM integrations, preferably within complex, large-scale environments.
  • Strong experience designing, developing, supporting, and troubleshooting integrations between HCM platforms and third-party providers across areas such as benefits, payroll, retirement, equity/stock administration, identity, and employee data management.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise integration technologies and patterns, including REST/SOAP APIs, web services, middleware/iPaaS, SFTP/file-based integrations, batch processing, and event-driven integrations.
  • Deep experience with Oracle HCM Cloud, OIC, Oracle HCM APIs, HCM Extracts, HDL/HSDL, and related Oracle integration technologies.
  • Solid background in building HCM integration templates (rtf, xslt…)
  • Strong experience in building fast formulas and value sets.
  • Good understanding of HCM security models including users and roles. Ability to build new roles as needed to support the application. Experience in supporting areas of responsibility (AORs).
  • Solid background in Visual Builder Studio (VBS) in support of page customizations
  • Understanding and support of HCM workflows, to support routing, notifications and approvals.
  • Strong understanding of the full software development lifecycle, including solution design, development, code review, testing, deployment, monitoring, production support, and change management.
  • Demonstrated experience establishing and improving engineering practices around source control, CI/CD, automated testing, code quality, observability, documentation, and release management.
  • Proven experience supporting business-critical production systems, including incident management, root-cause analysis, troubleshooting, escalation management, and implementation of preventive measures.
  • Experience building operational resiliency and reducing single points of failure through cross-training, documentation, knowledge transfer, succession planning, and primary/secondary ownership models.
  • Ability to serve as a secondary technical and leadership escalation point, providing continuity and decision-making coverage when the HCM Integration Manager is unavailable.
  • Strong understanding of data security, privacy, access controls, and handling of sensitive employee information.
  • Experience partnering with HR/HCM, Benefits, Payroll, Finance, Security, Enterprise Technology, and external vendors on complex cross-functional initiatives.
  • Strong technical judgment with the ability to evaluate architecture, challenge technical decisions constructively, identify risks, and guide engineers toward scalable and maintainable solutions.
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives and production priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts, risks, and recommendations effectively across technical and business audiences.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems
  • Experience providing technical leadership for a large portfolio of HCM integrations across multiple vendors and business functions.
  • Experience supporting HCM environments through major implementations, migrations, transformations, or platform modernization is a plus
  • Experience working with geographically distributed teams, including onshore and offshore engineers.
  • Experience operating in a SOX-controlled or similarly regulated enterprise environment.
  • Experience establishing on-call rotations, production-support models, engineering SLAs/SLOs, monitoring, and escalation frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify key-person dependencies and systematically establish technical and leadership redundancy.
  • Experience working closely with engineering management in a complementary technical leadership model with clear division of responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated experience serving as a trusted senior individual contributor and technical leader, with the ability to provide technical continuity, independently make technical decisions when needed, and systematically reduce key-person and single-point-of-failure risk across critical systems and engineering functions.
  • Experience using jira for SDLC, backlog management, work planning, and reporting. Participation is sprint ceremonies including grooming

Responsibilities

  • Act as the principal technical counterpart to the HCM Integration Manager, providing coverage and continuity across technical responsibilities.
  • Provide day-to-day technical leadership for integrations supporting HCM and third-party platforms including Fidelity, Shareworks, Aetna, and other benefits, payroll, equity, and enterprise systems.
  • Serve as a secondary escalation and decision-making point for critical HCM integration issues, reducing dependency on any single leader or technical resource.
  • Build redundancy across critical systems through documentation, cross-training, knowledge transfer, runbooks, and clearly defined primary/secondary ownership.
  • Partner with the HCM Integration Manager and business stakeholders on roadmap planning, prioritization, resource allocation, architecture decisions, vendor management, and delivery execution.
  • Provide technical oversight across HCM and OIC development, including architecture/design reviews, code quality, testing, deployment practices, monitoring, and production support.
  • Mentor and develop engineers and help establish consistent engineering practices across the team.
  • Provide leadership coverage during the HCM Integration Manager's absence and ensure continuity of critical business and engineering operations.
  • Identify areas of concentrated knowledge or ownership and proactively develop succession and coverage plans.
  • Support incident management and ensure critical integrations have appropriate monitoring, escalation paths, recovery procedures, and backup ownership.
