About The Position

The Senior Engineer plays a pivotal role in advancing innovative solutions within the Advanced Technologies team. This position requires a strong technical foundation and the ability to independently manage significant engineering tasks while contributing to the development of cutting-edge technologies, such as surgical navigation, wearable sensors, and instrumented implants. The Senior Engineer will lead portions of the development lifecycle, providing technical guidance to less experienced team members, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful solutions that align with Paragon 28’s mission. Successful candidates will bring a mix of: Curiosity for applying data-driven methods to clinical problems, Strong software or algorithm development skills, and Ability to work across hardware, software, and clinical domains.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
Minimum of 5+ years of experience in engineering, with demonstrated ownership of technical projects or subsystems
Ability to operate independently while contributing to a collaborative, cross-functional environment
Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, C++, or similar
Experience developing algorithms for data processing, computational modeling, or systems control
Experience applying ML/CV techniques to real-world problems
Familiarity with model development, evaluation, and deployment
Experience with statistical modeling, data analysis, and performance evaluation
Ability to work with real-world datasets (noisy, incomplete, clinical, etc.)
Experience working within larger systems (e.g., surgical navigation, sensors, wearables, or similar)
Understanding of how software integrates with hardware and/or clinical workflows
Proficiency in CAD software (Solidworks, 3-Matic, Fusion 360)
Experience in requirements-based product development

Nice To Haves

Advanced degree (MS/PhD) focused on Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Data Science, or related field preferred but not required
Experience in medical devices, imaging, or regulated environments
Exposure to signal processing, biomechanics, or sensor data
Ability to lead portions of complex projects independently while contributing to the broader team’s success.
Experience mentoring and coaching junior engineering teams

Responsibilities

Lead development efforts for key components of advanced technologies, ensuring technical excellence and alignment with project objectives.
Assist in defining system requirements, focusing on technical feasibility, data quality/availability, and performance metrics.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, contributing to the design, testing, and deployment of innovative technologies.
Mentor and support junior engineers, promoting skill development and knowledge sharing within the team.
Develop and document testing protocols, analyze test results, and recommend design improvements.
Support ongoing research and development initiatives, exploring new technologies to enhance product capabilities.
