About The Position

The Sr. Electrical Engineering Technician in the Post Market Engineering group plays an integral role in Abiomed’s Quality Department, supporting post-market failure investigations of FDA-approved medical devices. This is a position designed to build upon skillset that includes root cause analysis, fixture maintenance, lab management, medical device knowledge, and cardiology clinical background. You will be responsible for managing the electrical engineering laboratory by maintaining incoming medical devices, laboratory equipment and nonconforming materials. You will also support complaint investigations by reviewing clinical notes, analyzing medical device data, and by troubleshooting returned products to determine a root cause. This role requires the ability to read and interpret circuit schematics, PCB layouts, and other engineering drawings, and to independently perform device testing and compare results to characterization testing.

Requirements

  • Highschool diploma
  • 5+ years of related work experience
  • Proficiency with soldering rework station (IPC certified)
  • Ability to communicate ideas and information clearly, effectively, and frequently (oral and written)
  • Determination to overcome obstacles and the initiative to execute tasks in a timely manner with minimal direct supervision
  • A passion for medical devices and making a significant positive impact on the lives of our patients
  • Able to prioritize tasks
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Working knowledge of SAP desired.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates in Electronics, Biotechnology or directly related scientific discipline
  • Medical device and electromechanical device experience
  • Ability to troubleshoot electronics
  • Experience with programming languages
  • Knowledge of electronics manufacturing
