About The Position

Design Hire is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to support power generation and substation projects from design through project execution. The role is suited to an engineer with a strong power systems background who enjoys addressing complex electrical challenges and collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams on critical infrastructure projects.

The engineer will develop electrical designs and documentation, perform power system studies, coordinate with other engineering disciplines, support equipment selection and vendor coordination, and provide engineering support through construction, commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE).
• Professional Engineer (PE) license, or active eligibility and preparation to sit for the PE exam.
• Experience supporting power generation, substation, utility, or heavy industrial electrical projects.
• Strong understanding of medium- and high-voltage power systems, substation equipment, power distribution, transformers, switchgear, and protective relaying.
• Experience preparing engineering calculations, technical reports, and construction documentation.
• Strong communication, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with electrical analysis software such as ETAP, SKM PowerTools, EasyPower, or similar platforms.
• Knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards, including NEC, IEEE, and NESC.

Responsibilities

• Develop electrical designs, calculations, one-line diagrams, specifications, and construction documents for power generation and substation projects.
• Perform engineering studies related to power distribution, protection, grounding, and electrical system reliability.
• Coordinate with civil, structural, mechanical, controls, and project teams to deliver integrated engineering solutions.
• Support equipment selection, technical evaluations, vendor coordination, and engineering reviews throughout the project lifecycle.
• Provide engineering support during construction, commissioning, startup, and technical troubleshooting activities.
