About The Position

Advanced Energy is seeking a highly motivated Electronic Engineer to design, develop, test, and support advanced power supply systems and related subsystems. The role contributes throughout the product lifecycle, from concept development and design through validation and manufacturing support, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions. The Senior Engineer will lead subsystem or full-product design efforts, drive technical decisions, influence architecture or design direction, and provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced engineers. The position is onsite in an office environment in Eden Prairie, Minnesota.

Requirements

Bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
At least 5 years of relevant experience in electronic design or a similar field, or an advanced degree.
Strong foundation in electrical engineering, including circuit design, power electronics, and system-level integration.
Proficiency with laboratory instrumentation, such as oscilloscopes, spectrum or network analyzers, and power measurement tools.
Experience with electronic design tools, such as Cadence, Altium, or SPICE simulation.
Knowledge of embedded systems, control systems, or RF/power systems concepts.
Programming or scripting experience with Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, or similar tools.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
Ability to independently solve complex technical problems and lead design efforts.
Experience influencing system architecture, design direction, or cross-functional decisions.
Ability to mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership.
Proven track record of owning designs, solving complex engineering challenges, and delivering results independently.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and validate power supply systems and circuits, including analog and digital circuits, RF, control logic, and power electronics.
Perform schematic capture, support board layout, develop prototypes, and conduct system-level testing.
Execute and analyze laboratory experiments and test data, and validate performance against functional and regulatory specifications.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in development, manufacturing, and field environments.
Develop models, simulations, and analytical tools to improve design robustness and reduce iteration cycles.
Collaborate with firmware, mechanical, manufacturing, quality, and field applications teams to meet cost, schedule, and quality targets.
Support laboratory operations, including equipment setup, automation, maintenance, and safety compliance.
Develop scripts or tools, such as Python, MATLAB, or LabVIEW, to automate testing, data acquisition, and analysis.
Document designs, test results, and engineering changes clearly and thoroughly.
Lead design efforts for subsystems or full products, drive technical decisions, and influence architecture or design direction.
Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and review support to less experienced engineers.
Present results, proposals, and design recommendations to leadership and stakeholders.
