Electrical Engineers and Designers are responsible for the design, coordination, documentation, and delivery of electrical building systems, particularly for Mission Critical/Data Center practices. Their role involves engineering calculations, preparing and reviewing design documents, coordinating with project teams, managing tasks, providing technical leadership, mentoring, and supporting business development. The electrical system is viewed as the foundation of a building, requiring a balance of life safety, code compliance, practicality, and aesthetic considerations to support the building's life and client's vision.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering field (electrical, mechanical, fire protection, or architectural)
  • 12+ years of relevant experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is strongly preferred, required for EOR’s.
  • Advanced to expert proficiency in electrical engineering design, applicable codes and standards, Revit, Bluebeam, and construction processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead discipline coordination and manage complex or large-scale project scopes.
  • MEP/Construction Industry experience
  • High technical aptitude: ability to learn, understand and utilize various systems and processes.
  • Effective critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and engineering design software applicable to your discipline or focus.
  • Clear communication and willingness to ask questions.
  • Accountability, reliability, and ethical behavior.
  • Commitment to accuracy and quality.
  • Collaboration and receptiveness to feedback.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional technical certifications (e.g., RCDD, NICET, CPD, LEED, WELL) highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical engineering design from concept through completion for complex or large-scale projects.
  • Direct or oversee the preparation of design documents, system layouts, detailed drawings, schematics, and specifications.
  • Develop solutions to advanced and highly complex engineering problems, providing discipline-wide technical guidance.
  • Serve as a mentor and coach across teams and practices, including supervising less experienced designers and engineers.
  • Participate in or lead staffing recommendations, training initiatives, and technical strategy development.
  • Provide quality oversight, including conducting and/or issuing final quality reviews to ensure compliance with standards and best practices.
  • Communicate with clients, resolve conflicts, and provide leadership in responding to technical questions or design challenges.
  • Lead or support strategic business development efforts and maintain key client and partner relationships.
  • Serve as Engineer of Record when assigned, ensuring technical accuracy, accountability, and adherence to professional standards.
