About The Position

Rivian is on a mission to keep the world adventurous forever. This goes for the emissions-free Electric Adventure Vehicles we build, and the curious, courageous souls we seek to attract. As a company, we constantly challenge what’s possible, never simply accepting what has always been done. We reframe old problems, seek new solutions and operate comfortably in areas that are unknown. Our backgrounds are diverse, but our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of work experience in automotive, battery, aerospace, power electronics, or related industries.
  • At least a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Strong experience in schematic capture, PCB design, and board level electrical development.
  • Hands on experience with board bring up, lab debugging, and root cause analysis in complex embedded or power electronic systems.
  • Practical experience working with prototype PCB/PCBA suppliers and supporting fast hardware iteration cycles.
  • Strong analog and mixed signal electrical fundamentals.
  • Ability to work independently in ambiguous, fast-moving environments and contribute across a wide range of advanced development tasks.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.

Nice To Haves

  • High voltage and/or power electronics design experience is highly desirable.
  • BMS experience is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Design schematic and PCB layout solutions for advanced HV battery and related electronics concepts, with a strong focus on early development, technical demonstrators, and prototype hardware.
  • Own board level electrical design work from concept through bring up, including component selection, circuit design, schematic capture, layout guidance or execution, and bench validation.
  • Work directly with PCBA prototype suppliers to support fabrication, assembly, issue resolution, and design iteration.
  • Integrate new electrical hardware into prototype systems and other advanced concept builds.
  • Help evaluate and mature these new battery electrical, BMS, and HV technology concepts into robust hardware that can inform future production designs.
  • Troubleshoot board level hardware issues across BMS and related electronics, including bring up, signal path debugging, root cause analysis, and failure analysis support.
  • Work closely with systems, controls, software, mechanical, test, and supplier teams to quickly learn, iterate, and move new concepts forward.
  • Support electrical failure analysis work for field issues when deeper board level debugging is needed.
