Our team in the Space Sector’s Actuation Systems Business Unit is looking for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to perform the conceptual design, analysis, development, and testing of complex motor control electronics used on NASA, military, and commercial applications. This position requires a high degree of foresight and creativity to anticipate and solve unprecedented engineering problems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with 10 years of relevant technical experience
  • Must have the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance; currently holding a clearance is preferred.
  • Self-motivated, critical thinking and strong analytical skills
  • Advanced technical writing and communication skills
  • Advanced knowledge of motor control electronics for space-based systems.
  • Experience with Pspice, Orcad Capture CIS, Allegro PCB Editor, HyperLynx, MATLAB, PSIM, and CREME96 software
  • Embody the Moog values of “teamwork is a must”
  • Ability to work onsite in East Aurora, NY (remote candidates will not be considered).

Responsibilities

  • Operate as key element in a team of creative, independent individuals.
  • Validate conceptual problem solutions by performing trade studies and analyses.
  • Coordinate with FPGA engineer(s) to specify interface requirements for sensors and circuits.
  • Collaborate with product engineer(s) to create formal test procedures and test limits.
  • Prepare, support, and guide the work of Assembly and Test technicians supporting your development activities.
  • Serve as the box-lead for development of new controllers – leading a team of 2-3 electrical engineers to meet the technical, budget, and schedule goals
  • Create reliable designs through a comprehensive experimental development test program.
  • Perform design analysis (i.e. signal integrity, stress, sensitivity, worst-case)
  • Create and perform development test procedures for designs at the CCA, box, and system integration level
  • Document designs, analyses, and test results with clear, accurate, and concise reports.
  • Design custom magnetics for power supplies and filters
  • Perform radiation analysis and testing for space and strategic programs
  • Participate in failure investigations of hardware as the lead electrical engineer.
  • Provide work estimates in support of new proposals.
