About The Position

Primary purpose: This position will be responsible for supporting measurement, compression, automation and general pipeline and facility Electrical and Instrumentation design engineering related tasks.

Requirements

  • A minimum of five (5) years direct work experience in Design or Drafting may be considered as a substitute for a degree.
  • 7 years of experience in an Electrical Design, Electrical or Engineering role
  • Intermediate to Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, ETAP or similar Electrical & Instrumentation design software.
  • Intermediate to Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD.
  • Familiarity with AutoDesk Vault and document control measures.
  • Intermediate proficiency level in MS Office applications that may include but are not limited to Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Proficient in Electrical and Instrumentation Industry Codes and standards.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).
  • Must be able to perform all essential and marginal functions of the job.
  • Must be able to work with a team, take direction from management, adhere to required work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow work rules.
  • Ability to successfully perform multiple tasks with strict deadlines.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize daily work.
  • Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • The employee is regularly required to use hands to type, touch, handle, or feel.
  • The employee is required to talk and hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee is occasionally required to walk and climb or balance.
  • The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a related discipline.
  • Experience developing/designing drawing packages for Electrical and or Instrumentation controls for compressor stations, measurement stations and pipeline appurtenances for natural gas and crude oil facilities

Responsibilities

  • Strong attention to detail in composing, drafting, proofing, and distributing proposed and existing drawing packages incl. associated / material lists.
  • Strong knowledge of Tallgrass Engineering Standards, specifically Electrical Design codes and requirements
  • Support and lead various electrical and instrumentation Engineering design, project management and project documentation efforts.
  • Familiarity with Autodesk Vault and document control measures.
  • Maintenance of drawings database per company standards.
  • Collects redlines and updates drawings for primarily electric but some mechanical disciplines: P&IDs, PFDsOne Line and Three line diagrams, Panel drawings, etc.
  • Experience with the latest version of AutoCAD Electrical products and/or earlier releases.
  • Knowledge of Symbol libraries.
  • Understands wire numbering and tagging components.
  • Ability to develop smart panel layouts, ie, dynamic blocks and data fields.
  • Capable of OLE and Automation of PLC I/O’s reports.
  • Proficient with Catalog content
  • Implement improvements to company electrical design standards and assist with project workflows with Engineers for projects..
  • Conducts quality control reviews of drawings, drawing packages, and material lists in accordance to company standards.
  • Communicate and enforce company electrical drafting/design standards and verify quality controlled compliance.
  • Execute, and maintain workflows to update electrical one-lines and panel drawings from field redlines.
  • Deal with a wide variety of people with tact, courtesy and professionalism.
  • Speak clearly, both in person and by telephone, using a high level of verbal skills and listen carefully.
  • Maintain regular, dependable attendance and a consistently high level of performance.
  • Will work non-traditional hours as needed.
  • Ability to travel and work on site under field conditions.
  • Maintain a high regard for personal safety, for the safety of company assets and employees, and the general public.
  • Other daily, weekly, monthly or special project duties as identified and defined.
  • Create layouts/designs utilizing company specifications, standard drawings, design instructions, flow diagrams, line lists and supplier information.
  • Provide internal and external design/engineering support.
  • Willingness to learn and seek out new opportunities, meet people and challenges with an open mind to solve larger issues.
  • Ability to take on work that is not defined or fully developed.
  • Generate rough sketches, or schematics to develop engineering concepts into visual designs.
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of company standards, practices and procedures within Electrical and Instrumentation design.
