Job Summary and Responsibilities Patient treatment planning, calculations of dose for radiation therapy. Calculates distribution of doses for Radiation Therapy treatments including 3-D, IMRT, VMAT, SRS, SBRT for external beam treatments. Calculates plans for HDR and other brachytherapy procedures. Assists in orientation and training new dosimetrist(s) and radiation therapist(s). Provides support and problem solving with complex treatment set-ups to the Simulator/Lead Therapist. Assists physicists in data collection and quality checks. Assists physics team in quality improvement methodologies and measuring machine dose. Assists physicist in performing checks and calibrations on various radiation therapy equipment. Assists in instruction and training of Radiation Therapists in physics, dosimetry and related mathematics. Offers suggestions and assists the Radiation Oncologist for optimal treatment planning procedures and protocols. Plans patient treatments for external beam radiation. Performs plan verification via independent second checks of monitor units and beam parameters Accurately calculates electron beam monitor unit settings Performs hand calculations Utilizes computer program if applicable Assists the simulation therapist and advises the therapist on setup issues and requirements

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree
  • Five years experience as a Certified Medical Dosimetrist
  • Certified Medical Dosimetrist

Nice To Haves

  • Masters Degree
  • One year as a Radiation Therapist
