About The Position

The Senior Director, U.S. Commercial and Marketing Technology will serve as a technology leader for both U.S. Commercial Technology and Marketing Technology. This role unifies data, omnichannel, web, content, and digital engagement platforms to ensure cohesive strategy, operational excellence, and support for Alnylam’s next-generation omnichannel model. This leader will shape and execute the integrated technology vision for U.S. Commercial & Marketing, drive cross-functional alignment, oversee a growing team of product and platform leads, and help guide the delivery of advanced analytics, digital, and AI-enabled capabilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Digital Marketing Technology, or a related field.
  • 12+ years of experience in Commercial Technology, Marketing Technology, Digital, Data, or Enterprise IT roles, with increasing leadership responsibilities.
  • Significant experience supporting U.S. Commercial and/or Marketing functions in regulated industries (biopharma strongly preferred).
  • Strong understanding of CRM, omnichannel engagement, MarTech platforms, web technology, analytics environments, and data governance.
  • Proven success leading technology teams, large programs, and complex cross-functional initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders and drive enterprise-aligned strategies.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into business language.
  • Strong vendor management, program management, and operational excellence skill sets.
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on leadership in a dynamic, evolving environment.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the senior technology partner to the U.S. Commercial and Marketing leadership teams, aligning technology strategy to business priorities across Sales, Market Access, Marketing, Patient Services, and Operations.
  • Own the unified strategy for Commercial and Marketing technology platforms, ensuring seamless integration across data, omnichannel, web, content, digital engagement, and analytics ecosystems.
  • Drive the technology roadmap supporting the company’s omnichannel transformation, enabling AI-driven insights, personalization, and digital activation.
  • Establish an enterprise-aligned operating model emphasizing centralized governance, platform consolidation, scalability, and consistent standards.
  • Lead and grow a multi-disciplinary team, including emerging platform/product leads (e.g., Web Technology Lead), establishing a clear operating framework, career paths, and accountability structures.
  • Oversee cross-functional program delivery for key Commercial and Marketing technology initiatives, ensuring high-quality execution and business adoption.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, business partnership, and user-centric design.
  • Provide executive oversight of MarTech and CommercialTech ecosystems, including CRM, customer data platforms, web platforms, content management systems, omnichannel orchestration, analytics environments, and third-party digital tools.
  • Oversee platform lifecycle management: requirements gathering, architecture design, vendor governance, implementation, integrations, and ongoing support.
  • Reduce fragmentation by consolidating vendor and platform governance and ensuring consistent data, security, privacy, and compliance standards.
  • Ensure systems are scalable, high-performing, and aligned with enterprise data and technology principles.
  • Engage senior stakeholders across U.S. Commercial, Marketing, Corporate Communications, Data & AI, IT Strategy & Operations, Regulatory, and Security to drive integrated planning and decision-making.
  • Champion shared governance, portfolio prioritization, and cross-functional alignment to support enterprise-wide digital and data initiatives.
  • Drive adoption of advanced analytics, AI, and digital capabilities across Commercial and Marketing teams.
  • Serve as escalation point for complex, cross-functional issues affecting Commercial and Marketing platforms.
  • Identify and address gaps in system configuration, data flows, and processes to enhance usability and business value.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and propose investments that improve customer engagement, operational efficiency, and ROI.
