About The Position

The Sr. Director, Service Technology and NPDi is a global leadership role responsible for defining and executing Vertiv's enterprise strategy for service readiness, technology innovation, and digital service enablement across all New Product Development (NPDI) initiatives. This leader ensures that serviceability, lifecycle value, and aftermarket revenue capture are embedded into product design from inception through launch and lifecycle management. The role will also spearhead the development and integration of next-generation service technologies to enhance customer outcomes and operational efficiency. The Sr. Director will drive cross-functional alignment across Product, Engineering, Digital, Supply Chain, and Services, while leveraging external partnerships (OEMs, startups, universities) to accelerate innovation and expand Vertiv's service portfolio.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical/Mechanical) or related field; Master's/MBA strongly preferred
  • 15+ years in service operations, technology, or product development; 10+ years in progressive leadership roles
  • Global leadership experience managing cross-functional teams across multiple regions
  • Experience with NPD/NPDI processes and stage-gate methodologies
  • Track record in digital transformation, service technology, or innovation leadership
  • Experience in critical infrastructure, data center, or power/cooling industries preferred
  • Certifications in Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies a plus

Responsibilities

  • Define and own the global service readiness and service technology strategy aligned to lifecycle services growth and install base monetization.
  • Establish enterprise governance, KPIs, and standards for consistent service readiness across all product lines and regions.
  • Ensure serviceability, maintainability, and digital enablement are embedded into all NPDI programs.
  • Lead identification, evaluation, and deployment of emerging service technologies.
  • Build and execute a service technology roadmap aligned to trends in high-performance computing, AI, robotics, cooling, and power solutions.
  • Partner with external ecosystems (OEMs, startups, universities) to pilot and scale new service capabilities.
  • Lead the global NPDi service organization.
  • Embed service requirements into all NPDI tollgates (documentation, training, field serviceability, diagnostics, digital enablement).
  • Influence portfolio decisions based on serviceability and lifecycle revenue potential.
  • Ensure digital service readiness is a core deliverable in all NPDI programs.
  • Manage the Service Technology and NPDi budget, ensuring effective resource allocation and ROI.
  • Identify opportunities to grow service revenue through technology-enabled offerings.
  • Develop global playbooks, tools, and processes for service readiness and technology deployment.
  • Drive continuous improvement through field feedback, failure analysis, cost optimization, and install/startup efficiency.
  • Build and lead a high-performing global team of service technology leaders, NPDi engineers, and SME networks.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, inclusion, and continuous development.
  • Serve as the executive interface across Services, Product, and Engineering leadership.
  • Provide ELT updates on NPD readiness, service innovation progress, and digital service adoption.
  • Represent Services in global product and technology strategy reviews.
