Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or related field
  • Extensive experience in Purchasing / Supply Chain within automotive or complex manufacturing
  • Proven leadership experience managing global teams and cross-functional organizations
  • Deep understanding of RFQ processes, cost modeling, and supplier sourcing strategies
  • Experience with platform pricing, BOM cost analysis, and quotation consolidation
  • Strong knowledge of automotive development processes (PDP/MPM) and sourcing milestones
  • Strong executive presence and communication skills
  • Ability to influence across functions and regions
  • Strategic thinker with strong operational execution focus
  • Data-driven decision-making with strong commercial acumen
  • Normal amount of sitting and standing, average mobility to move around an office and plant environment, able to conduct normal amount of work on a computer.

Responsibilities

  • Define and deploy the global Core Purchasing strategy across all product areas and regions
  • Establish governance frameworks for RFQ execution, sourcing decisions, and pricing integrity
  • Align Core Purchasing deliverables with business objectives for cost, quality, delivery, and supply chain risk
  • Act as the escalation point for key sourcing, quotation, and supplier strategy decisions
  • Own end-to-end purchasing input into customer quotation activities (RFQ/RFI)
  • Ensure disciplined execution of sourcing activities, commercial assumptions, and pricing strategies
  • Drive consistency and accuracy in platform price libraries and BOM cost baselines
  • Partner with Engineering and Program teams to ensure early sourcing alignment and design-to-cost execution
  • Lead and develop a global Core Purchasing team (Managers, Leads, Buyers)
  • Build organizational capability in cost modeling, negotiation, and sourcing strategy
  • Establish clear performance metrics, accountabilities, and development plans
  • Foster a high-performance, accountable, and collaborative team culture
  • Partner with Program Management, Engineering, Finance, Quality, and Category Management
  • Ensure alignment between product development timing and sourcing readiness
  • Provide executive-level purchasing input to business cases and program reviews
  • Drive early purchasing involvement in product definition and MPM processes
  • Define supplier strategy at platform/pre-development level in collaboration with Category teams
  • Leverage market intelligence and supplier capabilities to optimize cost and innovation
  • Support development of strategic supplier relationships and long-term sourcing roadmaps
  • Ensure supply base supports scalability, resilience, and competitive positioning
  • Establish and monitor KPIs across quotation performance, cost competitiveness, and execution quality
  • Drive continuous improvement in tools, processes, and data (e.g., price libraries, RFQ workflows)
  • Lead initiatives to enhance efficiency, transparency, and standardization across Core Purchasing
  • Ensures all Company policies, procedures, plant standards, and safety rules are consistently adhered to.
  • Displays a positive attitude towards safety, works safely and follows all the Company's safety policies and procedures.
  • Complies with all Health, Safety and Environmental standards in accordance with the Magna Employee Charter, the Occupational Health & Safety Act, and the Michigan Occupational Health & Safety Act.

  • Takes an active part in the division’s safety program by performing regular workplace inspections, effectively investigates accidents/incidents promptly and assists in meeting or exceeding the division’s safety goals.
