About The Position

The Senior Director of Workplace Safety and Security is responsible for all aspects of site security and safety for all Agency settings. This position will utilize a unique blend of skills and competencies to perform the job effectively. The Senior Director of Workplace Safety and Security will be responsible for the development, creation, and implementation of Agency policies and procedures concerning, but not limited to, Site Security, Key/Access Control, Video Monitoring, Emergency Response, and Safety. The Senior Director of Workplace Safety and Security will also be responsible for ensuring contractors and vendors follow appropriate state agency’s requirements for maintaining compliance when dealing with security, fire, and life safety systems. The Senior Director of Workplace Safety and Security also has responsibility towards the Agency’s Safety Committee Team oversight and assisting management with accident investigations, corrective response and needed follow up tasks.

Requirements

  • Significant knowledge of relevant security policies, standards, guidelines, and processes to include Fire & Life Safety, protection and security operations.
  • Working knowledge of processes related to security such as: physical and technical security systems technology, threat vulnerability, site assessments, emergency response and crisis management.
  • The ability to multi task, prioritize, work under time constraints and resolve issues with minimal supervision.
  • Have a confident, professional and calm demeanor, with the ability to work in an ever changing environment.
  • A creative, visionary mindset with the ability to adapt to change and implement new processes for improvement.

  • May be required to provide own vehicle transportation in the absence of Agency vehicle availability.
  • Responsible for following agency safety and health policies, procedures and rules.

  • Graduation from High School or possession of an equivalency diploma and 5years experience of a combination of education and experience that, in the opinion of the reviewing agency, meets or exceeds the above standards of the program.

Nice To Haves

  • BA/BS degree with emphasis in Emergency Management and Safety is preferred.
  • Experience in the field of Emergency Management and Safety or Law Enforcement is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Agency Security policies and procedures as well as ensure compliance throughout the Agency.
  • Establish Intrusion/Security Threat Plan framework for all ACHIEVE sites.
  • Initialize site specific training to Threat Plans throughout the agency to include training and exercise drills per agency's frequency practices.
  • Routinely conduct physical security site risk assessments for all ACHIEVE sites.
  • Develop a best practice framework for each Emergency/Disaster with consideration to current and emerging risks to individuals served and staff.
  • Provide comprehensive and accurate reports to properly document and communicate results of security reviews and audits.
  • Serve as a resource and consultant to effectively address safety issues and concerns for all departments within the Agency working towards the goal of zero workplace injuries.
  • Provide employee accident oversight.
  • Works with management from all departments to drive conformance of proper accident investigation and ensures completeness of follow-up.
  • Develop and implement Job Safety Analysis as needed.
  • Co-chair ACHIEVE’s Safety Committee
  • Conduct Safety Inspections and Fire Drills per Agency’s frequency practices.
  • Establish key and security access control approval process and oversite of key issuance.
  • Oversite of Contract & Vendor Compliance when dealing with Security/Fire/Life Safety Systems.
  • Establish system for vendor inspections, schedules and corrective actions which may be a result of a deficiency finding.
  • Maintain record keeping via Netfacilities or other computer based means.
  • Adds value as a key member of the facilities team; understands regulatory compliance, all forms of maintenance strategies, and the key components of excellent customer service.
  • Ensures all documentation is maintained and in line with all departmental and regulatory standards.
  • Provides daily, weekly, monthly and yearly tracking and performance reports for Management.
  • Participates in on-going training and education as required and assigned
  • Other related duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
