About The Position

Mass General Brigham (MGB) relies on a wide range of professionals to advance its mission of patient care, research, teaching, and community service. The Senior Director of Finance is responsible for overseeing the financial management and coordination for Hematology and Oncology, Radiation Oncology, and Surgical Oncology Services of the MGB Cancer Institute (MGBCI). This role involves strategic financial management, data analytics, planning, benchmarking, and other management support activities. The Senior Director will collaborate closely with MGBCI leadership to assess and direct financial performance and administrative activities, overseeing all financial management including Hospital, MGPO/BWPO, HMS, research, sundry funding, and endowments. The position integrates financial operations across the MGBCI to manage an integrated profit/loss statement, margin targets, and overall financial performance, and assists in developing a financial and growth strategy for the Institute. Regular communication and coordination with stakeholder groups across AMC and Community Hospitals are expected.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Related Field of Study.
  • 8-10+ years of experience in healthcare within an academic medical center.
  • A combination of finance, accounting, and/or operations management experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with a diverse constituency.
  • Excellent negotiation skills in complex internal and external situations.
  • Ability to quickly and independently resolve most problems encountered.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity, discretion, and judgment regarding confidential matters.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with all members of the organization in ways that enhance understanding, respect, cooperation, and problem-solving.
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and organizational skills, with a professional demeanor.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluating the financial structure within the Institute for synergies and consolidation of functions across departments/divisions.
  • Managing metrics, data analysis, dashboard development and management, contracting, billing, and transactions.
  • Establishing adequate structures/committees for the review, diligence, and evaluation of Institute finances, including budget variance management.
  • Capital planning.
  • Overseeing other Finance roles.
  • Partnering with administrative and clinical leaders on Institute-wide compensation plans.
  • Overseeing the expansion and growth of net new business lines within the Institute, including affiliated/network sites and research capabilities.
