The Senior Director of IT will oversee enterprise infrastructure, cloud technologies, cybersecurity, applications, networks, end-user computing, IT operations, and technology governance. The role will partner closely with executive leadership, Engineering, Product, Security, Compliance, and business leaders to ensure technology enables business growth while meeting the heightened security, regulatory, and operational requirements associated with government and defense customers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, including significant experience leading enterprise IT organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing enterprise IT strategy.
  • Experience leading infrastructure, cloud, cybersecurity, enterprise applications, and IT operations.
  • Experience supporting government, defense, aerospace, or other highly regulated environments strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, IT governance, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience with cloud platforms and modern enterprise infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated experience managing technology budgets, vendors, and strategic technology investments.
  • Experience leading organizational transformation, modernization, and technology optimization initiatives.
  • Strong executive presence and ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance, if required by the position or customer environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting DoD or federal government customers.
  • Experience with NIST SP 800-171/800-53, CMMC, DFARS, FedRAMP, FISMA, or related security frameworks.
  • Experience working within a FOCI-mitigated organization or similarly regulated environment.
  • Experience supporting SaaS or enterprise software organizations.
  • Experience with cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Experience with ITIL, DevOps, SecOps, or other structured IT operating models.
  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CRISC, PMP, ITIL, or cloud certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a multi-year IT strategy aligned with the company’s business objectives and growth plans.
  • Lead the IT organization, establishing clear priorities, operating standards, accountability, and performance expectations.
  • Serve as a strategic technology advisor to the executive leadership team.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and identify opportunities to improve business performance, scalability, and operational efficiency.
  • Develop and manage the IT budget, technology roadmap, and strategic vendor relationships.
  • Establish IT policies, standards, architecture principles, and governance practices.
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and ongoing operation of enterprise infrastructure, networks, cloud environments, systems, and end-user technologies.
  • Ensure highly available, scalable, and resilient technology environments that support business and customer requirements.
  • Lead IT modernization and automation initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce operational risk.
  • Establish and monitor service-level objectives and key IT performance metrics.
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery, business continuity, backup, and system resilience capabilities.
  • Ensure effective asset management, configuration management, identity management, and technology lifecycle planning.
  • Partner closely with Security, Compliance, and Legal leadership to maintain a secure technology environment appropriate for government and defense customers.
  • Establish and enforce IT security controls, access management, vulnerability management, endpoint security, and network security practices.
  • Support compliance with applicable government and industry requirements, including NIST-based security frameworks, DFARS requirements, CMMC, FedRAMP, and other applicable contractual or regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure IT infrastructure and processes support requirements associated with controlled information, customer security requirements, and applicable FOCI mitigation measures.
  • Lead IT risk assessments and remediation efforts and ensure appropriate controls are in place to protect company and customer information.
  • Support security audits, assessments, customer due diligence, and government-related compliance activities.
  • Partner with the security organization on incident response, cybersecurity investigations, and remediation activities.
  • Partner with Engineering and Product leadership to ensure IT infrastructure effectively supports software development, testing, deployment, and production environments.
  • Collaborate with business leaders to understand technology requirements and translate business needs into practical IT solutions.
  • Support customer-facing teams during technical assessments, security reviews, and government customer engagements.
  • Provide executive leadership with clear reporting on IT performance, cybersecurity risk, technology investments, and strategic initiatives.
  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing IT organization capable of supporting a rapidly growing technology business.
  • Establish organizational structure, roles, responsibilities, and career development opportunities within IT.
  • Recruit, retain, coach, and develop technical talent.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, customer service, security, and operational excellence.
  • Establish appropriate performance metrics and operating rhythms for the IT organization.
