About The Position

Alignment Health is breaking the mold in conventional health care, committed to serving seniors and those who need it most: the chronically ill and frail. It takes an entire team of passionate and caring people, united in our mission to put the senior first. We have built a team of talented and experienced people who are passionate about transforming the lives of the seniors we serve. In this fast-growing company, you will find ample room for growth and innovation alongside the Alignment Health community. Working at Alignment Health provides an opportunity to do work that really matters, not only changing lives but saving them. Together. The Sr. Director, Investor Relations will partner directly with the VP of Investor Relations and cross-functional leaders across Finance, FP&A, Legal, and Executive Leadership to build and sustain a best-in-class IR program. This role owns the development of investor messaging, manages relationships with institutional investors and sell-side analysts, and functions as a key voice of the Company in all external capital markets interactions — from earnings calls to non-deal roadshows to investor day events. Operating at the intersection of financial strategy and communications in a complex, highly regulated Medicare Advantage environment, this leader translates intricate managed care economics — including risk adjustment, MLR dynamics, CMS revenue mechanics, and medical cost trends — into compelling, credible narratives that resonate with both generalist and healthcare-specialist investors. The role is critical to the organization's market credibility, investor confidence, and long-term access to capital in a competitive managed care landscape.

Requirements

  • 8–10+ years of progressive experience in investor relations, public company finance, buy-side investment management, or sell-side equity research
  • Demonstrated experience supporting or leading earnings calls, investor days, and non-deal roadshows in a publicly traded company environment
  • Proven financial literacy, including deep command of accounting principles, valuation methodologies, and equity analysis frameworks used by institutional investors and analysts
  • Experience in Medicare Advantage, managed care, or broader healthcare services industry strongly required, including familiarity with CMS revenue mechanics, risk adjustment, and MLR dynamics
  • Track record of producing investor-grade financial models, competitive analyses, and shareholder communications in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment
  • Prior experience at a publicly traded managed care organization or Medicare Advantage health plan
  • Experience in an IR leadership role with direct ownership of the IR program, including investor targeting and engagement strategy
  • Exposure to corporate finance functions, including capital markets transactions, secondary offerings, or debt refinancings
  • Sell-side healthcare equity research background with coverage of the managed care sector
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related quantitative field
  • Equivalent combination of education and directly demonstrated, relevant experience may be considered

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) with a concentration in Finance, or a Master's in Finance or Economics
  • Graduate-level coursework in healthcare economics, managed care finance, or capital markets

Responsibilities

  • Lead Investor Messaging Strategy and Narrative Development: Architect and own the development of the Company's external financial narrative, including strategic talking points, investor presentations, Q&A frameworks, and earnings call materials. Ensure all messaging is accurate, consistent, and aligned with organizational strategy, SEC disclosure requirements, and the expectations of both generalist and sector-specialist investors. Serve as a principal author and editorial steward for all IR content produced by the function.
  • Execute Investor Engagement and Market Access Programs: Design and lead a proactive investor engagement strategy — including investor conferences, non-deal roadshows, investor days, and one-on-one meetings — that builds relationships with current shareholders and expands the Company's institutional investor base. Lead investor targeting initiatives that identify high-quality potential investors aligned with the Company's long-term strategy and valuation thesis.
  • Drive Competitive Intelligence and Market Surveillance: Continuously monitor equity market dynamics, sell-side research, competitor earnings commentary, and managed care sector news to identify trends, catalysts, and risks relevant to the Company's investor story. Synthesize intelligence from managed care peers, CMS policy developments, and macro healthcare trends into actionable briefings for senior leadership.
  • Manage Shareholder Intelligence and Ownership Analysis: Maintain a sophisticated understanding of the Company's shareholder base by tracking institutional ownership patterns, activist risk indicators, and changes in the composition and sentiment of key investors. Produce regular shareholder ownership reports and interpret shifts in the investor base to inform leadership decisions on engagement strategy and capital allocation priorities.
  • Build and Maintain Advanced Financial Models and Valuation Frameworks: Develop and sustain rigorous internal financial models, consensus tracking tools, and valuation frameworks that support earnings guidance, investor scenario planning, and competitive benchmarking. Translate complex Medicare Advantage financial mechanics — including MLR drivers, risk adjustment revenue, and medical cost trends — into investor-ready analyses that instill confidence in the Company's financial visibility.
  • Serve as a Strategic Cross-Functional Partner: Partner with Finance, FP&A, Actuarial, Legal, and Executive Leadership to ensure alignment between internal financial planning and external investor communications. Support the preparation of earnings guidance materials, Board-level investor updates, and regulatory filings that require accurate, investor-sensitive financial disclosure. Serve as a trusted thought partner to the CFO and SVP of IR in high-stakes strategic decisions involving capital markets.
  • Oversee SEC Disclosure and IR Compliance: Ensure all investor-facing materials, communications, and disclosures comply with SEC regulations, Regulation Fair Disclosure (Reg FD), and internal disclosure policies. Partner with Legal and General Counsel to review and approve earnings releases, press releases, 8-K filings, and investor presentations prior to public release, managing risk with precision and accountability.
