About The Position

The Sr. Director, Global Cybersecurity will be responsible for ensuring technical information security is strategically implemented globally across all of IT, R&D and Manufacturing. In this role, you’ll report directly to the Chief Information Security Officer and lead the teams responsible for systems implementation, detections and security tuning of network, internet edge, vulnerability management and endpoint systems. For this role we’re looking for someone who is a strategic thinker who can effectively lead operations and be hands on with all the security technology in use. The top candidate is technical but can seamlessly develop a strategy but communicate it to both technical and non-technical audiences. Our company is global, therefore we expect you to be great at building and leading global teams. This position will be based onsite at Vertiv's Westerville, OH - HQ location.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 12 or more years of IT Infrastructure technical and progressive technical Information Security/Cybersecurity experience.
  • 7 or more years of progressive cybersecurity leadership experience managing programs, teams, and strategic initiatives.
  • Verifiable current ISC2 CISSP certification.
  • Demonstrated experience presenting cybersecurity complex cybersecurity topics to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Work from Westerville, OH office with the ability to travel up to 15% of the time in the US and internationally.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-domain execution of the enterprise cybersecurity strategy established by the CISO, translating it into an annual rolling operating roadmap in alignment with enterprise risk, business objectives, and the evolving threat landscape.
  • Serve as the CISO's enterprise IT security deputy, supporting executive, regulatory, audit committee, customer, and operational engagements as delegated by the CISO.
  • Partner with both IT and senior business leaders to integrate a cybersecurity strategy with corporate digital transformation initiatives, M&A activity, and global expansion priorities.
  • Aggressively manage security vendor relationships, and strategic technology investments through mandatory technical quarterly business reviews.
  • Provide the CISO quarterly reviews with quantified metrics: business contextualized security events, quantified systems tuning based on events data and security platform specific assessments and metrics focused on completeness of implementation and event driven tuning.
  • Execute cybersecurity architecture, engineering, and cyber defense through subordinate leaders.
  • Assess and drive security capabilities - across cloud, identity, endpoint, network, infrastructure, OT, and manufacturing environments, with measurable improvement in the enterprise risk posture.
  • Oversee security monitoring, threat detection, incident response, vulnerability management, and threat intelligence programs, ensuring rapid response and clear executive communication during significant security events.
  • Lead technical cyber investigations and incident recovery efforts, providing technically correct direction, drive strict adherence to all incident procedures and provide accurate and routine reporting to the CISO and Head of Infrastructure and Applications.
  • Establish fiercely hold teams accountable to cybersecurity KPIs. Automate reporting using dashboards and build company specific function reports demonstrating program maturity and enterprise risk posture over time.
  • Lead cybersecurity alignment with the ISO 27001 framework and be knowledgeable to talk through how ISO 27001 crosswalks to other frameworks we align to, including NIST CSF and CMMC.
  • Drive enterprise security transformation by championing a security-first culture, advocating for risk-informed decision-making, and partnering with IT, Legal, HR, Engineering, Finance, and Compliance leaders.
  • Lead cybersecurity integration for new business activities, acquisitions, divestitures, mitigating emerging risks before they materialize.
  • Enforce a collaborative team mindset through clear and accurate communication of risk and partnership.
  • Uphold change management practices in full alignment with the Infrastructure and Application team.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of cybersecurity managers and senior professionals, building organizational depth, succession readiness, and a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Define and firmly uphold performance expectations, and champion talent development programs that attract and retain top cybersecurity talent across multiple specialized domains.
