The Sr Director, Enterprise Strategy leads Campbell’s Enterprise Strategy function, responsible for executing critical strategic processes and initiatives. This role drives business performance through data-driven insights and recommendations, serving as a strategic thought partner to business leaders. Key responsibilities include leading the Board of Directors’ meeting process and content, collaborating with the CEO and Operating Committee, and managing the strategic planning process (Situation Analysis, Strategic Plan, Annual Operating Plan, Strategic Contingencies). The role also leads cross-functional initiatives and manages a team of two strategy resources. This is a highly visible role reporting to the SVP, Corporate Strategy and Development, with frequent interaction with Senior Management, including the CEO and Operating Committee members. A partnership-led, service-oriented mindset is crucial for success. This role is based in Camden, NJ, with limited travel required.

Requirements

  • B.A./B.S. (business-related field preferred)
  • MBA strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 10+ years related experience post-MBA (or minimum of 12+ years related experience post-Bachelor’s degree) in corporate strategy, management consulting, investment banking, project management, business operations, and/or finance
  • Superior analytical and quantitative skills; ability to draw conclusions from complex data
  • Capacity to work collaboratively as well as independently with cross-functional teams with minimal direct supervision; Must be a self-starter and take initiative without direct instruction
  • Poised, articulate presentation and facilitation skills, unafraid to raise issues and contrary opinions to executive leadership
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; demonstrated leadership
  • Ability to influence others and drive complex problems toward resolution and adoption
  • Exhibited ability to scope, plan, and execute large scale, complex projects
  • Strong organizational awareness – knows how to read organizational dynamics at the senior levels and navigate stakeholders
  • Strong listening skills – seeks to understand and spends time on learning history/context before looking to drive change
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and ability to flex approach to change direction as needed
  • Demonstrated discretion and independent judgment in handling of confidential information and matters of significance
  • Working knowledge of the Consumer Products / Food industry is necessary
  • Ability to quickly learn and influence key business drivers is a critical success factor

Responsibilities

  • Leadership of Campbell’s BOD meeting preparation, including agenda-setting, content development, and process management
  • Leadership of the strategic planning process, including Situation Analysis, Enterprise Strategic Plan, Enterprise Annual Operating Plan, and Strategic Contingency Plan
  • Content development and related communications to drive clarity and alignment around strategic imperatives with Campbell’s BOD, Operating Committee, Extended Leadership Team, and the broader organization
  • Leadership of critical enterprise strategic projects to support growth and change agenda (e.g., portfolio evaluation)
  • Leadership of the enterprise strategy function, including recruiting and developing talent, establishing team priorities, and building capabilities
  • Serve as strategic thought partner to CEO, Operating Committee, and Extended Leadership Team; provide insights and recommended actions based on industry trends and key business issues
  • Develop collaborative, effective partnerships with all Divisions and Functions; confront issues and identify alternate paths to improve performance and accelerate progress
  • Identify opportunities for growth and margin expansion across the business through quantitative/qualitative analysis of market potential, consumer/customer needs, the competitive landscape, and other relevant considerations; establish clear business cases for strategic priorities and investments
  • Support development of short and long-term business plans and business reviews outside of the typical strategic planning process
  • Support business development; analyze strategic fit for potential acquisitions, divestitures, and strategic partnerships, and prepare recommendations based on due diligence findings
