About The Position

McKesson's Corporate Strategy and Business Development (CSBD) department is seeking to add a Senior Director to its Enterprise Strategy & CSBD Operations team that is responsible for helping the company achieve its growth goals and strategic vision. The Senior Director, Enterprise Strategy will support enterprise leadership in planning, delivering, and implementing high-priority strategic projects that advance McKesson's competitive position and contribute to our purpose of Advancing Health Outcomes for All®. This role will work with business leaders to develop strategies aligned to our enterprise priorities and partner across CSBD and other functional teams in support of McKesson's strategy. In this challenging and highly visible role, the Sr. Director will support enterprise-level strategic direction and long-range planning. This role analyzes external business environments to anticipate industry trends, influence strategy, identify strategic needs as they relate to the pursuit of building new and strengthening existing business endeavors, and recommend growth opportunities for the enterprise. The role manages two senior managers, ensuring operational excellence, the execution of high-impact initiatives, and talent development.

Requirements

  • 13+ years of prior strategy consulting, healthcare consulting, innovation consulting, corporate strategy, startup, and/or relevant industry experience, with 6+ years of diversified leadership experience
  • Prior experience in healthcare required
  • Demonstrated people management experience, including direct supervision, coaching, and development of team members
  • Must have 4-year Bachelor's degree, or related field or equivalent experience
  • Healthcare Knowledge: General knowledge and expertise in the healthcare industry
  • Strategic Thinking: Evaluating industry trends, developing long-term implications, and recommending pragmatic strategies for new business opportunities
  • Analytical Rigor: Ability to bring structure to ill-defined problems and intellectual leadership to problem solving; synthesize insights from analysis and ensure credible, actionable recommendations
  • Financial Acumen: Understanding and competency in financial analysis
  • Communications Skills: Ability to develop rapport and credibility across the organization, promote ideas and present complex information in an easy-to-understand, persuasive manner

Responsibilities

  • Define and manage multiple complex strategic projects and initiatives, high-quality deliverables, and detailed work plans, including timelines, incubation, hypothesis development, and successful project execution
  • Create analytical frameworks and conduct complex business analyses with an ability to work on narrow timelines, ensuring frameworks incorporate broader strategic considerations
  • Quickly build expertise and insights about industry trends and potential implications for McKesson
  • Manage relationships with key leaders and project stakeholders throughout the organization, effectively navigating the process to lead, influence, and reach consensus with or without formal authority
  • Monitor and synthesize industry developments, market research, competitive intelligence, and emerging risks and opportunities to inform enterprise strategy
  • Develop robust, actionable insights to inform strategies, priorities, and key decisions
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of the company's business lines, products, and services, developing multiple subject matter expert areas of focus
  • Apply strategic and analytical thinking to synthesize market data and deliver business insights
  • Lead workstreams end to end and ensure consistently high-quality output across the team's deliverables
  • Partner with SVP, Enterprise Strategy and CSBD Operations to drive the annual strategic planning process and support other strategic updates to the C-suite and Board of Directors
  • Leverage presentations to develop a narrative / storyline and POV, while influencing and driving conviction that a given strategy makes sense among key McKesson executive leaders
  • Work within established framework to facilitate business problem solving and present hypotheses and recommendations to senior management
  • Work through ambiguity and put structure around problems/tasks with limited guidance
  • Act as thought-leader and lead advisor
  • Make project-specific resource allocation decisions
  • Coach, develop, and mentor direct reports, building a strong leadership bench and fostering a culture of analytical rigor, intellectual curiosity, and professional growth
