Celltrion Branchburg, LLC is a subsidiary of Celltrion USA, established in 2025 following Celltrion USA’s acquisition of Eli Lilly’s drug substance (DS) manufacturing facility located in Branchburg. By linking robust local manufacturing capabilities with an existing direct sales network, we aim to generate greater synergies across our operations. Looking ahead, we also anticipate expanding into the global contract manufacturing organization (CMO) sector. This position is responsible for providing leadership for Plant & Project Engineering, facilities, oversight of the IFM group at the site and Utility Operations for Celltrion Branchburg. This position is responsible for ensuring that the facilities are maintained and operated in accordance with regulatory requirements such as FDA, EMA, OSHA, etc. In addition, this position is responsible for providing engineering support for Commercial and Clinical Manufacturing operations, and for the design, installation and start-up of campus-wide capital and expense projects. The Sr Director Facilities, Utilities, Plant & Project Engineering is also responsible for oversight in the preparation and execution of the site capital plan, approximately $15MM annually. This position is required to manage annual expenses in excess of $30MM annually. This position is responsible for an in-house staff of approximately 50 people and for co-leading the Engineering Lead Team per MSOE 601.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in engineering and facilities.
  • Knowledge of cGMP requirements and monoclonal antibody/ API manufacturing processes.
  • Must be able to make decisions and communicate effectively (clearly and accurately) with staff and upper management.
  • Must be able to mentor/coach staff as well as lead staff with a high level of honesty and integrity.
  • Must be able to apply technical and operational experience to solve complex problems.
  • Must exhibit a teamwork attitude.
  • Must have strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal and written skills.
  • BS in Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Provide senior level leadership for the Engineering Organization including Plant, Capital Delivery, Utilities Groups.
  • Ensure equipment and facilities operate in compliance with all internal and external requirements.
  • Support and Lead HSE (Health, Safety, and Environmental) initiatives and promote a safe work environment and a safety focused culture.
  • Oversee operational functionality of all utilities, mechanical (i.e. HVAC) and electrical systems
  • Oversee Integrated Facilities Management (IFM) program.
  • Oversee Plant Utilities operation and maintenance.
  • Own Site Capital Plan, Site Master Plan, and Resource Assessment Process to ensure proper balance between recapitalization, growth and productivity based on site needs.
  • Develop, manage, and execute the local capital plan and budget, approximately $15MM annually.
  • Manage engineering and facilities expense budget.
  • Co-lead the Engineering Lead Team per Manufacturing Standard for Operational Excellence (MSOE) 601 and as well as the FUME Flow.
  • Represent Engineering on the Celltrion Branchburg Leadership Team and functional lead teams.
  • Support site operations through managing: Energy conservation and waste reduction efforts (corporate goals), Identify and implement life cycle management programs, process and operational improvements, Regulatory inspection support, IFM oversight for maintenance of all campus buildings, labs and non-manufacturing equipment, grounds, pest controls, fit finish and for management of the MRO stores (spare parts), Global engineering initiatives.
  • Interacts with local and global functional areas and external suppliers/agencies. Influences, negotiates, and makes decisions through those interactions.
  • Drives cross functional alignment and integration at FUME Flow Team.
  • Liaison between the FUME Flow Team and other site functional leaders.
  • Responsible for developing employees and future leaders.
  • Coach and mentor for internal resources.
  • Fosters an inclusive workplace and engaged workforce.
  • Ensures effective hiring and staffing (right person for the right role).
