THE IMPACT YOU CAN HAVE: Leads and interprets Ulta supply chain strategic direction and vision as a direct report to the Vice President of Distribution and a key member of the Supply Chain and Distribution Leadership Teams. The Sr Director, Distribution is responsible for leading a multi-site, cross-functional team focused on executing best-in-class omni-channel distribution operations. As a strong business leader and forward thinker, this role is also responsible for the development, implementation, and advancement of distribution strategies. These strategies will include, but are not limited to, driving short-term and long-term supply chain priorities/roadmaps, delivering positive associate relations through team engagement initiatives, and functioning as a strategic business partner to guide the business to meet and exceed sales and profit objectives. The Sr Director, Distribution will maintain and further build our guest and associate centric, values-based, high-performance culture while focusing on talent acquisition, development, and retention to elevate distribution capabilities to improve financial contributions to the Company. This leader will take the extra steps for our guests, our communities, and our shareholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Supply Chain Management or related field from a four-year college or university; MBA preferred
  • An accomplished distribution leader with 15+ years of broad progressive distribution experience with a leading multi-unit consumer driven retail organization with five or more years in a role leading multiple distribution facilities
  • Previous experience in a high velocity, Each Pick environment in a high SKU multi-unit retail environment
  • Strong leadership and team engagement skills
  • A track record of performing organizational assessments in the support of Company strategies through innovative distribution processes and initiatives which are cost effective and results-focused
  • Demonstrable achievements in managing productivity and labor costs while increasing customer service levels
  • Strong knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems. Familiarity with SAP and Manhattan is a plus.
  • Successful track record of working collaboratively across the retail enterprise including supply chain, finance, merchandising, inventory planning and management, store operations, marketing and human resources
  • Demonstrated support for the merchandising and store organization through effective communication
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to influence management at all levels and to communicate and relate both up and down the corporate organization
  • Strong reputation for attracting, hiring, and retaining the best people in their industry with the ability to assess potential and develop programs to reinforce and retain that talent
  • A strategic thinker who is a business-oriented team player with a hands-on management style and strong execution skills
  • Pro-active, fast-paced, results driven leader with excellent teaching and coaching, motivational, and accountability skills

Responsibilities

  • Inspires, leads, and motives high-energy, results-driven teams across a fast-paced multi-site retail and eCommerce operations environment
  • Strategically and effectively leads cross-functional teams to align operational goals, resolve complex issues, and ensure seamless execution across the supply chain
  • Applies strong business acumen to identify growth opportunities, operational risks, and efficiency gaps; proactively develops solutions that elevate team performance, associate experience, service levels, and guest satisfaction
  • Develops and supports strategic initiatives to execute enterprise objectives
  • Designs and executes regional distribution roadmaps that focus on team engagement, guest service, safety, cost efficiency, and continuous improvement
  • Creates effective balance between strategic planning and tactical execution ito develop a culture of continuous improvement while maximizing the operation’s service levels and cost metrics
  • Oversees a multi-site operational expense budget in excess of $50 million dollars and a capital budget in excess of $3 million dollars per year
  • Participates in strategic planning sessions for current and future market fulfillment centers (to include current and future direction and applications of technologies, capital improvements and expenditures, and organizational structures to support growth)
  • Influences and drives cross-functional problem solving to ensure the attainment of continuous improvement objectives
  • Drives operational excellence and optimization by translating enterprise and supply chain strategies into clear performance expectations, establishing KPIs, and holding teams accountable for sustained results.
  • Builds a customer centric, positive work environment that leverages best-in-class policies, operational practices, and leadership standards to support business goals
  • Strengthens supply chain capabilities through leadership and direction in succession planning, talent attraction, training, leadership development, and performance management
  • Influences and partners with other senior directors to ensure integrated planning and execution of enterprise objectives, recommending measures to improve supply chain, distribution methods, team performance, and quality strategies
  • Evaluates and ensure implementation of technology solutions that improve metrics, compliance, and operational accuracy
  • Delivers on distribution’s Environmental Social Governance (ESG) commitments through responsible operating practices and sustainable process improvements
  • Maintains a safe and secure work environment for associates, championing safety programs, training, procedures, and proactive risk mitigation activities
  • Acts as a collaborative business advisor and partner to the Supply Chain Team, fostering a culture of open communication, providing insight and support while building key relationships across Ulta

  • Participates in talent calibration, culture survey action planning, goal setting and rollout, performance review consultation, and IDP creation/execution

  • Develops strategic direction and establishes appropriate priorities for projects critical to success
  • Ensures that all organizational activities and operations are carried out in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and laws governing business operations, and interacts with regulatory officials as required
