About The Position

Lead the strategy and governance for one of DaVita's most important enterprise data assets: Payer Data. As the Payer Data Domain Owner, you'll drive the vision, roadmap, governance model, and adoption of provider data across the organization, ensuring it is trusted, accessible, and capable of powering critical business, operational, clinical, and AI-driven initiatives. You'll partner with senior leaders across the Village to influence priorities, establish standards, and unlock enterprise value through high-quality data and scalable data products. The Domain Owner will coordinate closely with Data Stewards and Data Custodians across several ‘sub-domains’ (Patient, Provider, Payer, Teammate, Village). This role is essential for making the centralization successful because they serve as the voice of the business for that data, ensuring the new Central Data Hub team builds and executes use cases that meet business needs.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in data management, data governance, data strategy, master data management (MDM), data product management, enterprise analytics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years leading cross-functional enterprise data initiatives involving business, product, technology, and analytics teams.
  • 3+ years of healthcare industry experience with knowledge of provider, patient, clinical, operational, or healthcare network data.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing enterprise data governance frameworks, including data ownership, stewardship, data quality, metadata management, business glossaries, and policy management.
  • Experience leading large-scale stakeholder alignment efforts across multiple business functions, including facilitating governance forums, steering committees, or executive working groups.
  • Experience defining and prioritizing enterprise roadmaps, balancing competing business needs, technology constraints, regulatory requirements, and organizational objectives.
  • Proven track record influencing VP-level and executive stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Deep understanding of enterprise data management principles including: Data Governance, Data Stewardship, Data Quality Management, Metadata Management, Data Cataloging, Master Data Management (MDM), Data Lineage, Data Ownership & Accountability Models, Reference Data Management.
  • Experience establishing and monitoring domain-level KPIs, data quality metrics, governance controls, and operational processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to define business data standards, domain taxonomies, critical data elements, and enterprise data policies.
  • Experience driving stewardship adoption and leading networks of business and technical data stewards.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare provider ecosystems including one or more of the following: Provider credentialing, NPI management, Provider hierarchies and relationships, Medical director agreements, Provider engagement, Provider performance and quality data, Referral networks, Provider master data, Practice and facility relationships.
  • Ability to translate provider business processes into scalable data domain strategies and data products.
  • Experience with one or more enterprise data platforms and governance technologies such as: Informatica Intelligent Data Management Cloud (IDMC), Informatica Data Quality, Informatica Data Catalog / Metadata Management, Reltio MDM, Collibra, Alation, Atlan, Microsoft Purview.
  • Experience working with modern cloud data platforms including: Google Cloud Platform (GCP), BigQuery, Dataplex, AWS or Azure.
  • Ability to create and communicate a compelling vision for an enterprise data domain.
  • Exceptional executive communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Demonstrated success building consensus among business, product, engineering, architecture, analytics, compliance, and operations teams.
  • Strong strategic thinking and prioritization capabilities with the ability to connect data investments to measurable business value.
  • Proven ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, fast-changing environments while driving decisions and accountability.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred familiarity with: Enterprise Data Platforms (EDP), Data product operating models, API-based delivery, Healthcare interoperability standards (FHIR, HL7), AI-enabled governance and metadata automation tools.
  • Experience serving as a Data Domain Owner, Data Governance Leader, MDM Leader, Data Product Leader, or Enterprise Data Strategy Leader.
  • Experience governing domains containing 100+ critical data elements, multiple source systems, and diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Experience leading enterprise initiatives involving data modernization, domain-driven architecture, cloud migration, or data platform transformation.
  • Healthcare provider, payer, population health, clinical operations, or healthcare technology experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Set and communicate a clear vision and priorities for data efforts within the domain, ensuring alignment with Village-wide priorities such as improving clinical outcomes, driving census growth, and inflecting Teammate engagement and retention.
  • Partner with departmental management and business leaders to develop strategic and tactical solutions that support business strategies.
  • Coordinate with other Domain Owners and the enterprise data product team to ensure alignment across domains and limit overlapping efforts.
  • Coordinate with Village leadership to ensure alignment with Village-wide priorities, including working with business lane leaders on high-value data issues and with data management leadership for the coordinated use of resources.
  • Promote data product adoption with business users in governance forums.
  • When needed, escalate disagreements on prioritization to Data or Business leadership for resolution.
  • Be final decision-maker for data issues and policy changes within domain.
  • Facilitate Data Governance Council (DGC) and guide agenda/decisions required in governance.
  • Support Data Stewards and Data Custodians as they resolve data quality issues and build data products within their respective sub-domains by helping to prioritize issues and initiatives.
  • Organize and run regular Domain Working Groups to drive accountability for sub-domain teams (Data Stewards and Data Custodians) and ensure alignment on topics like data definitions.
  • Establish and approve the master definitions, quality rules, and metadata for data domain.
  • Own the responsibility for compliance and regulatory risks associated with their data (e.g., privacy rules for patient data).
  • Work with the new central hub team to prioritize data projects and quality initiatives based on the business value of domain, ensuring CDO teammates are focused on the most critical needs.
