Sr. Director, Corp Dev & Licensing

ANI PharmaceuticalsPrinceton, NJ
$235,000 - $300,000Hybrid

About The Position

The Senior Director, Corporate Development & Licensing (BD&L) is a senior individual contributor and deal architect responsible for identifying, evaluating, and executing strategic transactions that expand Ani Pharmaceuticals' rare disease pipeline and commercial footprint. This role sits at the intersection of science, finance, and strategy — requiring a professional who is equally comfortable presenting to a Board of Directors, structuring a term sheet, and building relationships. The ideal candidate brings a strong transactional background — ideally with experience in investment banking, or in-house corporate development at a specialty pharma or biotech — paired with a demonstrated ability to move deals from first contact through close. This is a high-visibility role with direct exposure to senior leadership, external partners, and key opinion leaders across rare disease and specialty therapeutics. This is a hybrid position requiring three days per week in the office.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years’ progressive experience in business development, licensing, investment banking (healthcare / life sciences coverage), or corporate development within biotech or specialty pharma.
  • Demonstrated track record of executing pharmaceutical transactions — including in-licensing, acquisitions, or collaborations — from term sheet through close.
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree (MBA, PharmD, MD, or PhD in life sciences) strongly preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience at a healthcare-focused investment bank or in-house BD at a publicly traded specialty pharmaceutical company.
  • Existing relationships within the rare disease, oncology, or specialty therapeutics ecosystem.
  • Familiarity with FDA regulatory pathways, IND/NDA/ANDA frameworks, and deal structures specific to branded/complex generics or specialty assets.
  • Experience in a publicly traded company environment.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively source licensing and acquisition opportunities that align with Ani's therapeutic and commercial strategy.
  • Attend and represent Ani at key industry conferences (JPMorgan, BIO, ASCO, ASH, etc.) to identify emerging opportunities and advance active discussions.
  • Monitor competitive intelligence, asset transactions, and market dynamics to surface actionable deal leads.
  • Lead scientific, commercial, and financial screening of inbound and outbound opportunities; develop compelling target profiles and investment rationales.
  • Coordinate and manage cross-functional due diligence teams spanning medical affairs, regulatory, commercial, finance, and legal.
  • Build integrated financial models including NPV, scenario analysis, and deal structure sensitivities.
  • Structure and negotiate term sheets, LOIs, licensing agreements, collaboration agreements, and asset purchase agreements.
  • Partner with legal and finance to manage transaction documentation and ensure commercial terms reflect strategic intent.
  • Lead or co-lead negotiations with counterparty business development, legal, and executive teams.
  • Balance risk, value, and speed in deal terms to achieve optimal outcomes within ANI's risk tolerance.
  • Prepare and present opportunity summaries, investment committee memos, and deal recommendations to the C-suite and Board.
  • Act as a credible external representative of Ani's strategy and culture in all partner interactions.
  • Serve as a continuity resource through deal close and initial integration, ensuring strategic rationale is preserved through execution.
  • Support alliance management activities for key partnerships and collaborate with functional leads on integration milestones.
