About The Position

The Senior Director of Construction will serve as NTT’s on-site leader responsible for end-to-end construction delivery across a large-scale multi-building data center campus with construction budgets exceeding $1B per data center. This role provides daily oversight and drives execution across multiple concurrent projects/phases, ensuring alignment with standards for safety, quality, schedule, cost, construction, commissioning, and operational readiness. This position will serve as the single point of accountability on-site for NTT, overseeing GCs and vendors while leading a high-performing internal team of Project Managers. The Senior Director ensures disciplined execution across the full lifecycle from site enablement, design, procurement, vertical building construction, MEP installation, commissioning, and phased turnovers.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of Project Management, Planning, Construction Management, and Data Centers with Large/Campus-scale program leadership
  • Demonstrated leadership ability in dealing with external partners and internal stakeholders.
  • Extensive knowledge of prime contracts including lump sum, GMP, hard bid, negotiated, design-build, etc.
  • Extensive knowledge of schedule, cost control, budgeting, and value engineering.
  • Familiarity of all aspects of building to include site work, core, and shell, mechanical and electrical, utilities, finishes, etc.
  • Ability to work in a international team environment and interact with all levels of management, including C-Suite reviews.
  • Must be very organized, analytical, and structured with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong capability and expertise in Primavera, MS Project, MS Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
  • Able to be highly confidential.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, construction management or relevant field required.
  • 15+ years’ experience in any General and/or Specialty Construction Project Management with 10+ years with high-tech/mission critical/industrial facilities a plus
  • Direct experience with large mission-critical (100MW+) and/or campus-scale infrastructure projects
  • Expertise in managing construction of complex MEP systems, commissioning processes, and mission-critical delivery requirements
  • Strong experience managing GC/Supplier relationships from an Owner perspective
  • Regularly moves equipment and other hardware up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequently move about inside and outside of data center / facility
  • Operate computer, peripherals, and other office equipment.
  • Perform work during US business hours and time zones.
  • Work onsite at a Construction Site and/or data center location.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures, loud noises, outdoor weather, and general construction conditions.
  • Travel required up to 25% of time.
  • Perform work from a remote location with stable internet connection, as required.
  • Comfortable working in a high stress, fast paced environment shifting priorities.
  • Work outside normal business hours as required to enable project success.
  • CPR/First Aid Certified.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for building, mentoring, and leading construction teams to achieve project goals related to construction safety, quality, schedule, cost, fostering a high-performance, execution-focused culture with strong field engagement.
  • Maintain consistent daily presence on-site across the campus to lead execution, remove constraints, and enforce standards
  • Oversee construction delivery and coordinate across multiple buildings/phases simultaneously (Site, Shell, MEP, Fit-out), ensuring resources and priorities are optimized campus-wide
  • Sequence, coordinate and manage interdependencies for site infrastructure (power, fiber, water, roads) with building delivery to meet capacity ramp timelines
  • Drive standardization and repeatability across buildings (design, construction approach, commissioning strategy)
  • Partner with internal teams (safety, engineering, cost, supply chain, etc) teams to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Interface with external utilities, AHJs, inspectors, and local stakeholders to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Champion a “Zero Incident” safety culture across all contractors, holding GCs/Subs/Suppliers accountable to Owner safety expectations.
  • Establish and enforce QA/QC standards across all phases and trades, to help ensure installations meet mission-critical performance and reliability expectations.
  • Oversee General Contractor, project teams, direct contractors (ex. Commissioning Agents), third party testing agencies, the project controls and MEP teams for each project.
  • Responsible for tracking project timelines to ensure milestones are being met by each of these entities by driving contractor accountability for manpower, productivity, and look-ahead planning, and leading schedule recovery efforts when needed to maintain predictable delivery across the campus.
  • Implement change management routines to assess change requests for impacts to scope, budget, schedule, quality, and make recommendations, secure approvals, and issue change orders.
  • Identify project risks, develop risk mitigation and contingency plans, and implement action plans to reduce or eliminate project risks.
