About The Position

The Sr. Director of Business Development will serve as Pyramid’s representative to clients and external stakeholders as well as managing certain marketing and strategic initiatives. The primary goal for this role is to secure new business. The qualified candidate should be very comfortable with prospecting and outreach to new clients, conducting consultative technical sales discussions for biopharmaceutical manufacturing projects, and be familiar with the sales process for large, complex technical projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences (Biochemistry, Biology), Chemistry, Engineering or Business.
  • A true hunter mentality with a strong drive to prospect, engage, and close new business.
  • Experience in technical, consultative sales—ideally in CDMO, pharmaceutical services, or biopharma manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of the sales cycle for complex, high-value technical projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to thrive independently while working collaboratively with internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a sales plan for the assigned territory to generate new business for the organization, including prospecting to find and qualify prospective clients.
  • Manage travel and communication strategy to connect with prospective clients, both in person and through email, phone calls, virtual meetings, and in-territory networking events.
  • Advise leadership on how Pyramid can best reach prospective clients in the assigned territory through marketing placements, conference attendance, professional and regional association memberships, etc.
  • Lead consultative sales discussions with prospective clients, clearly articulating Pyramid’s value proposition in drug product development and manufacturing services.
  • Coordinate closely with internal stakeholders involved in scoping projects and maintaining client relationships, including technical staff, project management staff, and administrative/support staff.
  • Prepare and/or review technical proposals using provided templates and input from technical staff, SMEs, and Pyramid leadership.
  • Maintain and grow existing client relationships to generate follow-on business and long-term partnerships.
  • Provide strategic input on territory-specific marketing initiatives, including conference attendance, regional associations, and advertising placements.
  • Represent Pyramid at industry events, conferences, and client meetings across the U.S., with travel required up to 50%.
