Sr. Development Manager
About The Position
The Senior Development Manager is responsible for leading the Application Development team while remaining an active hands-on contributor to software delivery efforts. This role combines technical leadership, team management, solution design, and software development responsibilities. The position provides day-to-day leadership for development resources, supports engineering best practices, contributes to software architecture and implementation, and partners closely with the Director of Engineering to ensure alignment with organizational objectives and technology strategy. The Senior Development Manager serves as a working leader, balancing people leadership responsibilities with direct technical contributions across application, web, and software development initiatives.
Requirements
- 7+ years of software development experience.
- Demonstrated technical leadership experience.
- Experience leading software projects and development teams.
- Strong full-stack application development background.
- Experience with software architecture, SDLC methodologies, and Agile practices.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and mentorship for the Application Development team.
- Partner with the Director of Engineering to conduct performance reviews, establish employee goals, identify development opportunities, and support career growth planning for team members.
- Manage team workload, priorities, and resource allocation to ensure successful project delivery.
- Foster a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing development culture.
- Support employee engagement, team effectiveness, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Serve as the senior technical resource for application and web development initiatives.
- Collaborate with the Director of Engineering to define, implement, and maintain development standards, coding practices, architectural principles, and software delivery best practices.
- Lead technical design discussions and provide guidance on solution architecture.
- Perform code reviews and promote software quality, maintainability, and performance.
- Support troubleshooting and resolution of complex technical issues.
- Evaluate and recommend technologies, frameworks, and development tools that improve engineering effectiveness.
- Actively participate in software development projects as an individual contributor.
- Design, develop, test, and support business-critical applications and web solutions.
- Contribute to application modernization and enhancement initiatives.
- Support system integrations and cross-platform solutions where required.
- Participate in sprint planning, estimation, backlog refinement, and technical execution activities.
- Assist in production support and resolution of critical business-impacting issues.
- Coordinate development activities across multiple projects and initiatives.
- Ensure development work is delivered on schedule and aligned with business objectives.
- Identify project risks and work with Engineering leadership to develop mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with Integration, Analytics, Product, and Business stakeholders to ensure successful solution delivery.
- Support continuous improvement of development processes and team effectiveness.
