About The Position

The Sr Designer, Printed Wiring Board (PWB) is responsible for designing, developing, and documenting complex printed wiring board layouts supporting Masimo's medical device technologies. This role partners cross-functionally with Engineering teams to deliver high-performance, manufacturable electronic hardware from concept through production while serving as a technical resource for PCB design standards and best practices. Please note this is an onsite position at our Irvine, CA office.

Requirements

  • 5+ yrs of printed wiring board (PCB/PWB) design experience in a product development environment
  • Proficiency with PCB CAD tools (e.g., PADS, Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro, or equivalent)
  • Experience designing multilayer, high-density, and mixed-signal circuit boards
  • Knowledge of IPC standards, PCB manufacturing processes, and Design for Manufacturability (DFM)
  • Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to interpret technical documents, schematics, and written instructions
  • Ability to clearly document technical findings and communicate with cross-functional team members

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in medical devices or other regulated industries
  • Experience with rigid-flex PCB design, HDI technologies, and high-speed digital layouts
  • Familiarity with signal integrity, power integrity, EMC/EMI, and mechanical integration
  • Experience with database maintenance is a plus
  • Experience mentoring technical staff and supporting engineering process improvements

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop complex multilayer printed wiring board layouts supporting new product development and sustaining engineering.
  • Optimize board designs for electrical performance, manufacturability, reliability, cost, and product quality.
  • Partner with Engineering teams throughout design, validation, and production.
  • Develop and maintain PCB design documentation, engineering releases, and manufacturing deliverables.
  • Support prototype builds, design verification, engineering changes, and production transfers.
  • Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), Design for Test (DFT), and applicable IPC standards throughout product development.
  • Drive continuous improvement through design reviews, root cause investigations, CAD standards, and supplier collaboration.
