About The Position

Development and design of Electrical/Instrumentation & Controls systems and other complex engineering drawings for nuclear power plants in a 2-D or 3-D environment. Position requires individual to exercise independent judgment to develop designs with minimal direction from Design Supervisor, Design Lead or Engineering and will concurrently support multiple projects. Ability to perform walk downs of equipment in an industrial plant environment, to include climbing ladders, working at heights, carrying equipment up to 50 pounds, accessing security controlled areas, and entering confined spaces and controlled hazardous (e.g. high temperatures, high radiation) areas is required.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in drafting, design or engineering technology or 4 years of equivalent experience in the design of systems.
  • 9 years (minimum) of experience in engineering drafting.
  • Strong familiarity in the design of electrical/instrumentation and controls systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to direct drafting personnel on drawing assignments.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation CAD software packages.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software, Word, Excel, etc.
  • Competency in software applications for email and databases.
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge of design practices, codes and standards applicable to mechanical systems.
  • A working knowledge of structural design principles and practices.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • A working knowledge of budgeting, scheduling and estimating of Mechanical design activities.
