About The Position

Will develop structural diagrams such as pipe and conduit support configurations and details, foundation designs, equipment mounting details, general arrangements, fire stops and seals details, process, and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), piping plan and section diagrams, and isometrics. Individual will be responsible for the development of process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), piping plan and section diagrams, general arrangements and isometrics and other complex engineering drawings in a 2-D or 3-D environment. Individual will be responsible to check drawings for accuracy including dimensions, spelling, drafting standards and completeness utilizing correct project design criteria. Participation in field walk downs, as necessary, to obtain measurements, verify as-built documentation, and develop field sketches in support of plant modifications and design installations will occasionally be required. Position requires the individual to exercise independent judgment to develop designs with minimal direction from Design Supervisor, Design Lead or Engineering and will concurrently support multiple projects. The individual will communicate with project engineers and other disciplines to develop drawings and resolve design discrepancies. The ability to interface with the customer and their construction representatives to integrate designs to satisfy their standards as well as a proven ability to oversee multi-disciplined design projects is a must for this position.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in drafting, design or engineering technology or 4 years of equivalent experience in the design of systems.
  • 9 years (minimum) of experience in engineering drafting.
  • Strong familiarity in the design of mechanical systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to direct drafting personnel on drawing assignments.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation CAD software packages and Microsoft Office software, Word, Excel, etc.
  • Competency in software applications for email and databases.
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge of design practices, codes and standards applicable to mechanical systems.
  • A working knowledge of structural design principles and practices.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Ability to pass security and drug screening, and maintain unescorted nuclear plant access.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge or use of Raster Design or 3D modeling experience.
  • Recent plant modification package development and/or field experience on nuclear power plant projects.
  • Familiarity with project management principles and practices.
