Sr. Design Technician - Electric Utility Projects
About The Position
Apply now to join our Charlotte, NC team as a Sr. Design Technician supporting overhead and underground distribution projects. You’ll support field noting, construction prints, budget estimates, QA/QC, and structural analysis of distribution poles. In this role, you will contribute to the design of overhead and underground electrical utility projects, gaining hands-on experience in the field of electrical engineering.
Requirements
- 3+ years of electric distribution experience preferably with Duke Energy
- Design Review / QA/QC Review
- Proficiency in software: BOUD, Maximo, and AutoCAD.

- Associates Degree In a technical related field
Responsibilities
- Design electrical systems for overhead and underground utility projects, including creating detailed construction drawings and accurate bills of materials.
- Provide supporting documentation such as pole force loading calculations, voltage drop calculations, and permitting requirements as needed.
- Perform field visits to inspect infrastructure and ensure the accuracy of designs.
- Support pre-construction activities, answering questions related to the job site and design.
