Harbinger: Familiar Form, Revolutionary Foundation. Sr. Design Release Engineer, LV

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 3+ years of experience in electrical engineering design, release engineering, or program management, specifically focused on automotive low voltage systems or wire harnesses.
  • Strong working knowledge of electrical design tools (e.g., Mentor Graphics Capital, Zuken, VeSys, or CATIA Electrical) and PLM/BOM management systems (e.g., Teamcenter, Enovia, or similar).
  • Solid understanding of 12V/24V vehicle architectures, automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Automotive Ethernet), and familiarity with major automotive connector families (TE, Aptiv, Molex, etc.).
  • Proven ability to manage multiple complex supplier relationships simultaneously, with a track record of holding stakeholders accountable to deadlines.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of bridging the gap between hardware, software, and non-technical teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience working at an early-stage electric vehicle startup.
  • Hands-on experience with electrical troubleshooting tools (multimeters, oscilloscopes) and network analysis tools (Vector CANalyzer, PCAN).
  • Direct experience bringing a wire harness or major ECU from prototype phase into high-volume production.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary technical point of contact for LV component and wire harness suppliers. You will evaluate supplier capabilities, review component specifications, guide them through technical roadblocks, and ensure they meet our rigorous automotive quality standards.
  • Oversee and review 2D wiring diagrams, schematics, and 3D harness routing. Ensure that low voltage components are packaged correctly within the vehicle architecture, adhering to best practices for grounding, shielding, strain relief, and thermal exposure.
  • Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of electrical parts. You will be responsible for creating, tracking, and executing Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and Engineering Change Requests (ECRs), while meticulously managing the complex electrical Bill of Materials (BOM) in our PLM system.
  • Develop and maintain aggressive, realistic project schedules for component delivery. You will identify critical path risks, proactively mitigate lead-time delays (especially for long-lead electrical components), and ensure parts are delivered on time to support breadboard testing, prototype builds, and production.
  • Lead internal cross-functional design reviews. You will work closely with Vehicle Integration, Firmware/Software, and Manufacturing teams to ensure LV components function seamlessly with the high voltage (HV) systems and overall vehicle network.
