About The Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) is seeking a Sr Deputy Program Manager Engineering (DPME) for the Torpedo Systems Group. In this role, you will work closely with Senior Engineering Leadership, Chief Engineers, and Business Area Managers to plan, authorize, and drive the execution of engineering tasks to completion, providing strong leadership to ensure all events occur as planned. You will serve as the primary representative for program engineering teams to stakeholders and collaborate closely with Program Management to ensure contract obligations are met. GDMS provides premium systems, services, and products for the Department of Defense, government agencies, and commercial clients, and is a technology leader in areas such as signal processing, combat systems, cyber security, and electronic warfare.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field, plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
Department of Defense Secret security clearance is obtainable within a reasonable amount of time after hire.
Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
U.S. citizenship is required.
Technical and management credibility demonstrated through past experience in DoD or similar environments.
Experience preparing cost and schedule estimates for design tasks.
Proven success with Agile practices and processes in a DoD setting.
Demonstrated ability to lead and manage geographically separated engineering teams.
Experience brokering consensus among diverse stakeholders and organizational interfaces.

Responsibilities

Overseeing program technical performance across engineering efforts to ensure requirements are validated, integrated, tested, and verified.
Developing and maintaining engineering plans, risks, and opportunities while adhering to change management processes and GDMS standards.
Managing engineering resources including staff assignments, capital equipment, organizational interfaces, and engineering scope.
Conducting engineering status reviews and providing material for program reviews, including implementing corrective actions.
Providing input to leadership on new business opportunities, internal research and development, or business expansion initiatives.
Staffing and leading project teams in coordination with Senior Engineering Managers and Directors of Engineering.
Managing resolution of technical issues and communicating outcomes to all affected parties and artifacts.
Driving engineering plans, risks, and opportunities while following change management processes.
Contributing to program reviews and implementing effective corrective actions as required.
Identifying opportunities to apply AI for continuous improvement and innovation.
