About The Position

The Senior Default Business Analyst performs activities related to the company’s business analysis functions within the default enterprise departments. The role is primarily responsible, under limited supervision, for eliciting, analyzing, validating, specifying, verifying, and managing the needs of stakeholders. These include customers and end users from cross-functional departments. The Senior Default Business Analyst serves as the conduit between the business and the Information Systems software development team through which requirements flow for medium to complex projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree directly related to the position or equivalent, required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in mortgage default and bankruptcy servicing, programming/system analysis, business process or project management.
  • Minimum of eight years total relevant experience in Business or Mortgage Banking related role(s).
  • Professional Certification in Project Management.
  • Analytical skills and a demonstrated talent for scrutinizing complex work processes and streamlining them for increased output; ability to abstract up from low-level information to a more general understanding.
  • Modeling skills necessary to represent requirements information in graphical forms.
  • Experienced in Power BI, data modeling, table relationships and Data Analysis Expressions (DAX).
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload effectively.
  • Adaptable and able to adjust to changing business requirements, technologies, and project scope.
  • Proficient in critical thinking and creativity to come up with effective solutions.
  • Strong understanding of technology, including software development methodologies, databases, and programming languages.
  • Proficient in handling large datasets and statistical analysis and spotting trends or anomalies in the data.
  • Expert-level knowledge of conventional and government mortgage loan documents, including overall processes and inter-relationships, standards and requirements, terminology, compliance and regulatory requirements related to federal debt collection laws, Federal Bankruptcy Laws, and proper handling of other legal situations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication required; able to effectively manage communication with multiple stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to interview subjects, facilitate group discussions, gather information, and report on results.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel Google docs, collaborative cloud-based programs, and third-party software applications required.
  • Ability to handle aggressive deadlines, set appropriate expectations and juggle multiple responsibilities.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and lead projects with a strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in process improvements and business systems analysis preferred within default, bankruptcy and REO.
  • Knowledge of Standard Operating Procedures, CFPB, FCRA and FDCPA requirement preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work with project sponsor to document project objectives, identify stakeholders, communicate risks/issues and analyze scope.
  • Elicit project requirements through the use of brainstorming, interviews, document analysis, viewpoints, etc. to avoid unnecessary project updates in the future.
  • Write project requirements specifications and business rules according to standard templates.
  • Accurately define quality attributes, constraints, external interfaces, and other nonfunctional requirements.
  • Establish and implement effective testing strategies to appropriately assess final programming changes; work with Business Analysts to identify cross impacts of final programming changes to other areas.
  • Document system changes in short narrative or diagram overviews including all business rules, use cases, and test scripts.
  • Participate in peer reviews and inspection of requirements documents and corresponding work products; ensure that the requirements were interpreted correctly.
  • Support training programs and tools to increase system knowledge; assist with developing servicing processes, scripts, and templates for correspondence.
  • Decompose high-level business and user needs into functional requirements and quality, specified in an appropriate level of detail.
  • Work closely with VP, Managers, Supervisors and Business Analysts on system fixes and project documentation.
  • Represent requirements using alternative views via flowcharts, diagrams, or scenarios where appropriate; participate in business justification and the prioritization of proposed requirements based on strategic or tactical importance.
  • Identify and stay current on changes in industry regulations, and recommend updates to internal policies, procedures, and systems based on new/changed requirements.
  • Establish and implement effective requirement practices, including use and continuous improvement of requirements process.
  • Effectively liaise between IT resources and line of business, including but not limited to easing communication discrepancies, supporting QA resources, creating project test cases, facilitating UAT, and completing implementation validations.
  • Develop and implement data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and data quality.
  • Identify trends, assist with forecasts and provide explanations for unexpected data results.
  • Provide exam/audit/monitoring support as directed.
  • Use expertise to resolve issues escalated by junior-level teammates.
  • Takes initiative to identify knowledge gaps and seek opportunities to learn and enhance skills.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
