About The Position

Rysun Labs is seeking an experienced Senior Couchbase Infrastructure Engineer to support a mission-critical infrastructure modernization initiative for a global enterprise client. The selected consultant will lead the upgrade and redesign of the client’s existing Couchbase environment, transforming a legacy single-node setup into a scalable, highly available architecture. This role requires strong expertise in Couchbase infrastructure, Sync Gateway, High Availability (HA) architecture, load balancing, and enterprise upgrade execution. The consultant will work closely with infrastructure teams, application teams, and client stakeholders to ensure a seamless migration and stable production deployment.

Requirements

8+ years of IT experience with strong expertise in enterprise infrastructure and database technologies.
Strong hands-on experience with Couchbase Server 7.x/8.x and Sync Gateway 4.x.
Proven expertise in High Availability (HA) architecture and distributed systems design.
Experience configuring and managing F5 Load Balancers or similar technologies.
Strong background in Couchbase upgrades, migrations, and cluster management.
Knowledge of .NET SDK v4.x and Java SDK v3.11+ compatibility considerations.
Experience with deployment validation, rebalance operations, and infrastructure optimization.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills in enterprise environments.

Responsibilities

Lead the redesign of the current single-node architecture into a resilient multi-node High Availability (HA) environment.
Design and implement Sync Gateway architecture with minimum two nodes per data center.
Configure and optimize F5 Load Balancer to support traffic distribution and seamless failover.
Execute phased upgrades of: Couchbase Server from 7.0.3 to 8.x, Sync Gateway from 2.1 to 4.x
Manage rollout activities across Development, QA, Pre-Production, and Production environments.
Perform deployment validation, cluster health checks, rebalance activities, and operational readiness reviews.
Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for .NET and Java application teams regarding SDK compatibility and migration guidance.
Provide technical consulting, architecture recommendations, and troubleshooting support throughout the engagement.
