About The Position

The Sr. Cost Accountant will be responsible for developing standard costs for manufactured and purchased parts, performing annual standard cost reviews, and analyzing standard variance reporting. This role involves investigating discrepancies, recommending corrective actions, and providing internal departments with requested information through ad-hoc reporting and data analysis. The position also requires active participation in lean and/or cost reduction teams, reviewing monthly cycle count reports, tracking inventory counts, and assisting in monthly closing activities. Other duties, assignments, and special projects may also be required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting is required.
  • Two plus years of cost accounting experience is ideal.
  • Highly proficient in Excel with advanced skill level required.
  • Daily usage expertise in MS Office Products Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) required.
  • Ad-hoc reporting experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA, CMA or CPA accreditation/licensing are also encouraged to apply.
  • Experience in a manufacturing organization a plus.
  • SQL experience.
  • JD Edwards experience is preferred.
  • Power BI is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop standard cost for manufactured and purchased parts by considering applicable external and internal costs and material rates.
  • Perform standard cost review annually by updating material, labor and overhead rates, reviewing simulating cost, correcting errors and verifying inventory analysis for accuracy.
  • Review and analyze standard variance reporting, investigate discrepancies, and recommend necessary corrective actions.
  • Provide internal departments with requested information by defining and developing ad-hoc reporting, analyzing data and providing recommendations based on analysis.
  • Actively participate in lean and/or cost reduction teams by providing appropriate reporting, analysis and provide recommendations.
  • Review monthly cycle count reports, identify variances and recommend corrective action.
  • Track and create Inventory count sheets for cycle counters.
  • Create raw material count sheets for cycle counters.
  • Assist in reviewing cycle count variances.
  • Assist in the monthly closing activities by inputting appropriate journal entries, reconciliation of assigned accounts and recommending corrective actions.
  • Perform other duties, assignments, and special projects that may be required.
