About The Position

The Senior Cost Accountant is a key employee within the Finance organization responsible for manufacturing cost accounting, inventory accounting, product costing, operational finance analysis, and financial controls supporting the company’s Sports Medicine division. This role serves as a strategic business partner to Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Engineering, Procurement, FP&A, IT, and Executive Leadership to ensure accurate product costing, inventory integrity, manufacturing performance reporting, and operational financial visibility within a highly regulated medical device manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • 5+ years of progressive manufacturing finance and cost accounting experience within a full production manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and manufacturing accounting principles.
  • Expertise in product costing, inventory valuation, manufacturing financial analysis, and operational reporting.
  • Advanced Excel skills required.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and interact effectively with all levels of the organization.

Nice To Haves

  • CMA and/or MBA preferred.
  • Experience within medical device, highly regulated manufacturing, high-mix/low-volume, engineer-to-order, or precision manufacturing environments preferred.
  • Strong experience with manufacturing ERP systems such as Dynamics 365, SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms.
  • Advanced experience with inventory accounting, standard costing, variance analysis, and operational finance.
  • Power BI, SQL, and reporting/analytics tools preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support for all manufacturing accounting activities including inventory accounting, product costing, inventory valuation, manufacturing close activities, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting support.
  • Support the accuracy and integrity of standard costing methodologies, cost rollups, bills of material (BOMs), labor rates, routings & overhead allocations.
  • Analyze manufacturing variances including labor, material usage, scrap, absorption, and provide actionable insights to operational leadership.
  • Support the cycle count programs, inventory reconciliations, and inventory control processes to ensure strong inventory accuracy and transaction discipline.
  • Maintain strong internal controls over inventory, manufacturing transactions, and costing processes in compliance with company policies and GAAP.
  • Partner closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, Procurement, and Operations leadership to improve cost visibility, operational performance, and financial decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain KPI dashboards, finance operational reporting and analytics that improve transparency into profitability, inventory performance, and margin drivers.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, inventory planning, capital investment analysis, and operational business reviews.
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction, process improvement, reporting automation, and margin enhancement across operations.
  • Serve as the finance subject matter expert for ERP systems related to costing & inventory, transactions within the Sport Medicine Division.
  • Drive standardization, data integrity, reporting improvements, and scalable manufacturing finance processes.
  • Support internal and external audits related to inventory, manufacturing accounting, and operational finance processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
