About The Position

The Sr. Cost Accountant/Analyst supports the Finance Business Partner at multiple sites. Requirements

  • Strong research and analytical skills

  • Advanced skills in Excel

  • BS degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 2-5 Years of experience in a manufacturing environment

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of SQL and/or Access a plus
  • Knowledge with Alteryx is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Analyze performance metrics inclusive of those above and others to understand plant performance and make recommendations to Finance Business Partner and General Manager.
  • Work with operations and engineering department managers to understand cost performance and analyze variances.
  • Support Finance Business Partner in preparation of Budget/Forecast/Period End Variance Analysis cycle.
  • Support conversion of ERP system to Oracle.
  • Inventory valuation: Prepare inventory reconciliation, Calculate Prod Cost % each period, Calculate reserves for Excess & Obsolete inventory and scrap, Analyze WIP aging and work with operations to address old work orders.
  • Cost Analysis: Analyze over/under absorption, Review job close variances, Review PPV variances, Update Standard cost rates, Perform profitability analysis (by PN and/or by Customer), Indirect Rate calculation for budget and pricing efforts.
  • Maintain/Update system set ups: If a new department is added, determine if it is costed or not with Oracle SME, If a new department is costed, determine cost drivers and rates with Oracle SME, Set up new resources, Overhead and rates in Oracle.
  • Help prepare Virtual P&L by Market and report variances.
  • Month end close tasks: Open/close inventories, Prepare journal entries, Coordinate/execute Quarter sample audits of Raw, WIP & FG inventory.
